BIOMETRIC ID CARDS

Future versions of military identification cards will encode information about fingerprints or other physical characteristics, the Pentagon's latest move to tighten security.

The newest cards already have information such as name, rank and serial number on a computer chip embedded in the card under the user's picture. The Defense Department passed out the one-millionth computerized ID card earlier this week to an Army soldier who works at the Pentagon.

Officials hope to distribute the high-tech ID cards to more than 3 million military and civilian Defense Department workers in the next several years. The ID cards help the Defense Department guard its computer files, not just its bases and offices, said John Stenbit, the Pentagon's chief information officer.

Workers can insert them into a device at a computer terminal to log on and get access to the files they need -- and not to files they don't. "The point of all of this is to allow people to have broader access to information, freely, over a network," Stenbit said. With the card, the computer recognizes who is on the network and can track what files he uses, which websites he visits and what e-mails he sends. Users can send and receive encrypted e-mail and be sure no unauthorized users have access to the information.

Army Spc. Trenton Dugan, who got the one-millionth ID card, demonstrated the technology for reporters by sending an encrypted e-mail to the Defense Department press office. The Pentagon is testing a program to add "biometrics" data to the ID card -- information about unique physical characteristics such as a fingerprint, hand shape, iris pattern, voice or face print. That would add another level of security by requiring computer users to log in with their ID card and password and then have their fingerprint or other biometric data scanned to verify who they were.

ILLEGAL ALIENS ARE KILLED BY LIGHTNING

Four illegal immigrants [aliens] were struck and killed by lightning as they huddled under a tree during a thunderstorm, officials said.

Three other people with them Friday were hospitalized with serious burns. U.S. Border Patrol agents found the men 35 miles north of the border with Mexico, about eight miles east of Douglas. At least two of the four dead men had burns on the front and back of their bodies "that looked like they came from a flash fire," said Carol Capas, a Cochise County sheriff's spokeswoman. Could this be divine justice? Maybe and maybe not. It would be nice if YAHWEH Elohim would execute every illegal alien, but They are not obligated to do the job of the Border Patrol. The BP needs to do their job with the funds, manpower and technology that they have. That corrupt agency would be better off discharging a few hundred agents and using the savings to buy satellite time or their own geosync-satellite. They could spot every illegal alien crossing the border and easily pick them up. The only ones they would miss this way would be those crossing via tunnels. Even the Feds have radar that can detect underground tunnels and bunkers I doubt they would let the BP use it. It is too highly classified.

BREAST-FEEDING PREVENTS BREAST CANCER

Mothers who do not breast-feed their children may be increasing their chances of developing breast cancer.

A ten-year study by British scientists involving more than 150,000 women in 30 countries has revealed that British women could cut their risk of developing breast cancer if they breast-fed for longer. The findings by scientists at Oxford University suggest that the reluctance to nurse infants at the breast could account for almost all of the rising incidence of breast cancer in developed countries. [Ed. note: We can thank the femikazis for ALL breast cancer! A world-wide class-action lawsuit should be filed against every femikazi organization that urged mothers to NOT breast-feed.]

If British women were to have more children, who are breast-fed for two years each, the disease, now the commonest of cancers, would be all but wiped out, the scientists say. Breast-feeding for an extra six months reduces a woman's risk by 5%, and each child that is breast-fed offers further protection of 7%, the study found. The effect is seen even in women who have a family history of the disease or who carry genes that predispose them to it, and exists over and above the protective effect of childbirth. [Ed. note: Women who remain single risk developing breast cancer. It is a serious risk to be weighed against the rigors of motherhood.]

At present, one in four British mothers avoids breast-feeding totally, and only one in five mothers breast-feeds for longer than six months. Women in this country have a 6.3% chance of developing breast cancer by the age of 70.

In developing countries, women have on average six children who are breast-fed for two years, as recommended by the World Health Organization. As a result, the risk of breast cancer is 1.5 percent. "The pattern works right across the board," said Valerie Beral, who led the team commissioned by Cancer Research UK. "The longer women breast-feed the greater their protection against the disease. The fact that Western women have largely stopped breast-feeding is a highly plausible explanation for the rise in breast cancer over the last century." [Ed. note: Why did it take the medical community so long to figure this out?]

The scientists, who publish their research in the Lancet today, claim it is an important step in understanding the disease and providing a cure. Breast-feeding is believed to cause permanent or long-term hormonal changes which protect the body into old age. Understanding the mechanism, which is the next stage in the research, will allow scientists the chance to develop drugs which replicate the protective effect. "This allows us to focus and look at prevention in the future," said Baroness Hayman, chairman of Cancer Research UK.

Two centuries ago breast cancer was virtually unheard of except amongst nuns. In the past 30 years it has become the commonest cancer in Britain with 39,500 new cases and 13,500 deaths every year. "Each piece of evidence we uncover reinforces the view that hormonal and reproductive factors are vital to the development of breast cancer," said Sir Paul Nurse, chief executive of Cancer Research UK. FORMER CIA AGENT CRITICIZES KISSINGER

A former CIA official argues that former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger's support for the anti-communist faction in Angola's civil war during the mid-1970s was a major contributor to instability in southern Africa at that time, a former CIA official contends.

Robert Hultslander served as CIA station chief in Angola from August to November 1975, a time when the country became a Cold War battleground as it gained independence after centuries of

Portuguese colonial rule. Concerned about another Soviet conquest after the fall of South Vietnam in the spring of 1975, the Ford administration launched a covert operation in Angola to prevent the leftist MPLA from gaining power over two rival groups.

In response to Kissinger's thesis that an MPLA victory would have a destabilizing victory in southern Africa, Hultslander said: "Of course, the opposite proved true. It was our policies which caused the destabilization." [Ed. note: The CIA ALWAYS seeks to destabilize a regime. That is all it can do.]

Efforts to reach Kissinger for comment were not immediately successful. Hultslander's comments were in response to questions posed by Piero Gleijeses, a history professor at Johns Hopkins University, in preparation for his newly published book, "Conflicting Missions: Havana, Washington and Africa, 1959-1976."

Excerpts of Hultslander's comments and other documents were released Monday by the National Security Archive, an independent, non-governmental research institute and library located at The George Washington University in Washington. Hultslander said, "Kissinger was determined to challenge the Soviet Union, although no vital U.S. interests were at stake," according to the documents.

Congress voted to end the covert U.S. operation in late 1975. The MPLA prevailed in the struggle, but has faced armed resistance from the UNITA rebels ever since. During the Reagan administration, the congressional ban on U.S. involvement in Angola was lifted, and military aid was secretly funneled to UNITA for roughly six years. Ironically, hopes for peace in the devastated country grew Saturday when the UNITA rebels said they intended to sign a cease-fire this week with the MPLA.

Hultslander said he came to the view in 1975 that the MPLA was better suited than UNITA or a third faction, the FNLA, to govern the fledgling country. "Despite the uncontested communist background of many of the MPLA's leaders, they were more effective, better educated, better trained and better motivated," he said. "The rank and file also were better motivated, particularly the armed combatants, who fought harder and with more determination."

As part of this tumultuous period, South Africa sent troops to Angola to fight the MPLA, prompting Cuba to send troops in the MPLA's defense. Gleijeses, citing information from newly declassified documents, said the United States initiated its covert operations in Angola weeks before the arrival of any Cubans, not afterward, as Washington claimed.

Tony Blair is opposing European moves to make denying or trivializing Nazi atrocities a criminal offense.

Proposals by Brussels would make racism and xenophobia serious crimes in Britain for the first time, carrying a prison sentence of two years or more. Europe wants to harmonize laws before a new arrest warrant comes into force in 2004. This will allow police to send citizens of the 15 member states for trial anywhere in the EU without old-style extradition procedures. [Ed. note: Incredible! This goes far beyond the jackboot tactics of the Stalinists! The EU will be a far more evil dictatorship than the Soviet Union, Nazis and maybe even the Tel Aviv terrorist cell.]

Among the crimes for which the warrant would be issued are racism and xenophobia. These do not exist as specific offences in Britain or in some other EU states. The draft plans define racism and xenophobia as an aversion to individuals based on "race, color, descent, religion or belief, national or ethnic origin." An offence of "public denial or trivialization of the crimes dealt with by the international military tribunal established in 1945" is also proposed. [Ed. note: Once this satanic law is enacted the EU terrorists will be able to send anyone to prison who disagrees with their tyrannical rule. Preachers who proclaim the evils of homosexualism can be busted. Anyone who has a web site that the EU terrorists don't like will wind up in prison. They may even prosecute non-EU subjects who have said or written anything they don't like. Stay clear of the EU nations.]

Holocaust denial laws are in place in seven countries, including Germany, France and Austria. They would be a big departure for Britain, where a risk of fomenting public disorder is needed before a thought becomes a crime. [Ed. note: The terrors of Eric Blair are coming true! Imagine thoughts being a crime!]

Before the 1997 election, Tony Blair said there was "a very strong case" for a holocaust denial law. Yet now the government has told the Commons European scrutiny committee that Britain is opposed to the creation of such an offense. "Whilst we recognize the significant degree of offence that this kind of material causes to many people, particularly the Jewish community, the government does not support the idea of an absolute offence," said Angela Eagle, a Home Office minister. She said the Government also opposed the proposed extent of the law. It could cover many stand-up comedians and even Anne Robinson, who said on BBC television that she regarded the Welsh as "irritating." [Ed. note: This demonic law is designed to give the EU mattoids an excuse to take out anyone and everyone who opposes them! No one will be safe, especially comedians!]

The proposals need the unanimous support of the 15 states, so Britain can veto them if further negotiations fail to meet its objections. There have been several prosecutions in Europe in the past few years for holocaust denial. In Germany a historian who claimed that Auschwitz prisoners enjoyed cinemas, a swimming pool and brothels was sentenced to 10 months in jail; and an American served three years of a four-year sentence for distributing anti-holocaust material. [Ed. note: I am not certain that laborers at Auschwitz saw movies, swam or had sex with prostitutes, but it is very probable. The conditions there were very pleasant as documented by Edomite (Jewish) laborers.]

In 1991 the controversial historian David Irving, who lost a High Court libel action two years ago, was fined by a German court for breaking holocaust denial laws and "defaming the memory of the dead." For the first time, doctors have documented a large-scale U.S. outbreak of antibiotic-resistant strep throat -- an episode involving at least 46 Pittsburgh schoolchildren.

Until now, antibiotics have easily killed group A streptococcus, the bacteria that cause strep throat and life- threatening septic infections, so doctors at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh were startled by its sudden, widespread resistance to widely used erythromycin. The drug is commonly given to people allergic to penicillin and other patients.

Doctors suspect the strep bacteria also are becoming resistant to other popular drugs in the same antibiotic family, the macrolides. Their use is growing because they require only one dose a day, compared with three for many other antibiotics. The jump in resistance began early last year at a Pittsburgh private school, where roughly half the strep throat cases were found to be untreatable with erythromycin. All the children were successfully treated with other drugs. "It definitely went from one kid to another in the school and it also spilled over into the community," said lead researcher Dr. Judith M. Martin of the hospital's Division of Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Disease. "Where it started, I don't know." The study was reported in Thursday's New England Journal of Medicine.

Dr. Chris Van Beneden, an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said the CDC will investigate. "In may be occurring in other places across the country," she added.

Dr. Lincoln P. Miller, head of the Newark infectious disease outpatient clinic at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, said the findings show doctors should limit use of all macrolide drugs. "This is an important article because it indicates the impact of our antibiotic use on the bacteria around us," Miller said. "I would hazard a guess and say (this resistance is) fairly widespread."

Doctors have long warned that overuse of antibiotics is making some germs immune. Antibiotic resistance has been growing in another type of streptococcus that causes pneumonia, but a recent survey of half the states found that less than 3 percent of group A streptococcus samples were resistant to erythromycin and closely related azithromycin.

In 1998, Martin began tracking group A streptococcus at the private elementary school, taking thousands of twice-a-month throat cultures from children. In January 2001, the doctors began seeing many samples of the same group A strain resistant to erythromycin -- in all, 48 percent over that winter. Forty-six of the students had the antibiotic-resistant form of strep throat. In addition, a random check of samples from children treated for throat infections at Children's Hospital found 38 percent had the identical resistant strain.

In an editorial, Dr. Pentti Huovinen of Finland's National Public Health Institute wrote that prevalence of group A streptococcus that cannot be treated by macrolide drugs began increasing in 1990. When regulations limited their use, the resistance problem dropped sharply.

ALEXANDER HAMILTON ON THE SECOND AMENDMENT

Alexander Hamilton's defense of an individual's right to bear arms in The Federalist Papers, Number 28, proves that the gun grabbers do not understand the Second Amendment or they want to shred it. The Second Amendment is gives individuals the right to keep and bear arms -- it is not a right for the government to establish militias or armies.

"If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no resource left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government, and which against the usurpations of the national rulers, may be exerted with infinitely better prospect of success than against those of the rulers of an individual state. In a single state, if the persons entrusted with supreme power become usurpers, the different parcels, subdivisions, or districts of which it consists, having no distinct government in each, can take no regular measures for defense. The citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without system, without resource; except in their courage and despair. The usurpers, clothed with the forms of legal authority, can too often crush the opposition in embryo. The smaller the extent of the territory, the more difficult will it be for the people to form a regular or systematic plan of opposition, and the more easy will it be to defeat their early efforts. Intelligence can be more speedily obtained of their preparations and movements, and the military force in the possession of the usurpers can be more rapidly directed against the part where the opposition has begun. In this situation there must be a peculiar coincidence of circumstances to insure success to the popular resistance."

"The obstacles to usurpation and the facilities of   resistance increase with the increased extent of the state, provided the citizens understand their rights and are disposed to defend them. The natural strength of the people in a large community, in proportion to the artificial strength of the government, is greater than in a small, and of course more competent to a struggle with the attempts of the government to establish a tyranny. But in a confederacy the people, without exaggeration, may be said to be entirely the masters of their own fate. Power being almost always the rival of power, the general government will at all times stand ready to check the usurpations of the state governments, and these will have the same disposition towards the general government. The people, by throwing

themselves into either scale, will infallibly make it preponderate. If their rights are invaded by either, they can make use of the other as the instrument of redress. How wise will it be in them by cherishing the union to preserve to themselves an advantage which can never be too highly prized!"

The Second Amendment was given because the people are sovereign and they have a right to overthrow an unjust government. To do so they need to be armed. Without arms, they are powerless.

BRITISH RETHINK GUN LAWS

Who would ever have thought that a British paper would extol the virtues of  private citizens bearing arms?

That is what readers of the London Daily Telegraph must have been asking themselves recently when they read Simon Heffer's article entitled, "If the state fails us, we must defend ourselves."

It turns out, the state has been failing British citizens in a big way.

Heffer documents several gruesome murders, the most recent involving a gang of young thugs who repeatedly stabbed an unarmed, 82 year-old lady to death.

Crime has gotten so bad, Heffer says, that Brits like himself are beginning to reexamine their long-held assumptions about the government's role in controlling crime.

Heffer used to believe there was an implicit contract between law-abiding citizens and the state. The people surrender certain freedoms to the government, and officials would in turn use their power to control crime. He says it is clear to all, however, that "the state has broken that contract."

Now that crime rates are skyrocketing in England, Heffer believes it is time for the British government to recognize a new right for denizens like himself the right to bear arms.

In one sense, Heffer is wrong. Bearing arms would not be a "new right" for Englishmen, for the English Bill of Rights recognized this very important freedom as far back as 1689. But he is correct in another sense. The British government consistently denies its people the ability to protect themselves with a firearm. England enacted a draconian gun ban after the Dunblane massacre, yet that law has done nothing to reduce crime, Heffer says.

In fact, things have only gotten worse. He longingly looks to America where citizens can defend themselves with firearms, unlike the situation in England where a homeowner used a gun in 1999 to kill a lifelong criminal and was then sent to jail for life!

Heffer is correct in saying that the British government has definitely let the people down. But before Americans start gloating about our superior laws, we should admit that we also know a thing or two about the state failing its citizens. Take the Los Angeles riots, for example. This month will mark the ten-year anniversary of these riots ù an uprising that began after a jury acquitted two cops of using excessive force against motorist Rodney King.

If you owned a TV in April of 1992, you will never forget the horrible images that blared day and night after the jury verdict was announced. For several days, Los Angeles was in complete turmoil as stores were looted and burned. Motorists were dragged from their cars and beaten. Further aggravating the situation, police were very slow in responding to the crisis. Many Guardsmen, after being mobilized to the affected areas, sat by and watched the violence because their rifles were low on ammunition. Not surprisingly, hundreds of people were injured. More than a dozen innocent citizens were killed.

But not everybody in Los Angeles suffered. In some of the hot spots, Korean merchants were able to successfully protect their stores with semi-automatic firearms. "We went through hell," said supermarket owner Richard Rhee. "No police, no National Guard. We called for help and they said we were on our own."

As it turns out, they did just fine on their own. In areas where armed citizens banded together for self-protection, their businesses were spared while others (which were left unprotected) burned to the ground. To be sure, the pictures of Korean merchants defending their stores left quite an impression on one group of people living in Los Angeles: those who had previously identified themselves as gun control advocates.

Press reports described how life-long gun control supporters were running to gun stores to buy an item they never thought they would need a gun. But alas, they were surprised (and outraged!) to learn there was a 15-day waiting period upon firearms. The situation was truly outrageous. The state of California could not protect these people, but in the same breath, it was not letting those same citizens protect themselves.

Simon Heffer is right. English citizens should be allowed to protect themselves. Here is the federal government contingency plans if there is a catastrophic attack on Washington:

Executive Branch

Under the classified "Continuity of Operations Plan," 75 to 150 senior government officials, drawn from every Cabinet department and some independent agencies, work out of two fortified locations along the East Coast. They rotate in and out of the facility, prohibited from telling anybody where they are hiding or why. Friends, family and co-workers can reach them through a toll-free number and personal extensions.

Vice President Dick Cheney often leaves Washington for secure, secret locations if the threat level is deemed high enough. He is next in line to the presidency.

Immediately after the September 11 attacks, one Cabinet member was kept at a secure bunker at all times. Lately, the anointed Cabinet member has been allowed to travel away from Washington -- with dramatically increased security -- for business or personal trips. Attorney General John Ashcroft spent time at his farm in late December as the designated Cabinet member. Commerce Secretary

Donald Evans spent part of a recent business trip under tighter- than-usual security as the single Cabinet member outside Washington.

The Department of Transportation representative at the shadow government site would be empowered to order all planes out of the air if he were the top surviving official in the agency's line of succession. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta ordered planes out of the sky September 11 while sitting in an underground White House bunker with Cheney at his side.

Legislative Branch

The Senate has arranged to meet in a Washington-area hotel in case of a disaster at the Capitol.

House leaders drew up plans for their chamber to meet if needed at a military base near Washington. The arrangements included voting machines, computers and sleeping space.

Unlike the executive branch, no congressional aides currently are working in secure locations as a contingency in case of an attack. [Ed. note: Most of the board members of the U.S. Corp. (Congressmen) have nothing to do with COG. They are mere puppets.]

Judicial Branch

The federal court system is in the process of developing a comprehensive contingency plan, said a spokesman for the court system's administrative office.

Individual federal courts, inside Washington and out, were urged to develop emergency plans after Sept. 11, if such plans were not already in place.

The Supreme Court has a plan, but spokeswoman Kathy Arberg would not discuss specifics. The Supreme Court moved its operations to the federal courthouse several blocks away when anthrax traces discovered in the mailroom forced a weeklong evacuation last fall. It was the first time the Supreme Court held court outside its own building since the building was completed in the 1930s. The New World Odor Gang doesn't need judges. When they declare a national emergency and openly take over they will establish their own courts and have their own judges.

SHADOW GOVERNMENT GOES PUBLIC

A "shadow government" consisting of 75 or more senior officials has been living and working secretly outside Washington since Sept. 11 in case the nation's capital is crippled by terrorist attack. "This is serious business," President Bush said of plans to ensure the continuity of government.

Such an operation was conceived as a Cold War precaution against nuclear attack during the Eisenhower administration but never used until now. It went into effect in the first hours after the terror attacks and has evolved over time, said senior government officials who provided details of the plan. [Ed. note: COG has been running since it was created. The NWO Gang has let it go public to see if the American sheeple will tolerate it. They probably will. The "Poppy" Gang tested the Office of Disinfo, but the sheeple didn't bite so it will be shelved until later. The spook agency dish out tons of disinfo, but not officially.]

Without confirming details of the government-in-waiting, Bush told reporters in Iowa: "We take the continuity of government issue seriously because our nation was under attack. And I still take the threats we receive from al-Qaida killers and terrorists very seriously."

"I have an obligation as the president and my administration has an obligation to the American people to put measures in place that should somebody be successful in attacking Washington there is an ongoing government," Bush said. "That is one reason why the vice president was going to undisclosed locations. This is serious business. And we take it seriously."

The shadow government plan was activated out of heightened fears that the al-Qaida terrorist network might obtain a portable nuclear weapon, sources said. U.S. intelligence has no specific knowledge the network has such a weapon, but the risk was great enough to warrant the activation of a plan, said a senior government official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Under the classified "Continuity of Operations Plan," which was first reported by The Washington Post in Friday editions, high-ranking officials representing their departments have begun rotating in and out of the assignment at one of two fortified locations along the East Coast.

The Post said the first rotations were made in late October or early November, a fact confirmed by the senior government official. A second government official who has visited one of the secure sites in a mountainside outside Washington [Mount Weather] said it is equipped with generators, telephones, television sets, private offices, command centers and computers. It is a large office space deep beneath the ground, sectioned off by agencies. In an unsettling reminder of the stakes involved, the official recalled seeing food rations at the site. [Ed. note: It is a city! This official is either lying about Mount Weather or he visited a small "bolt hole." Mount Weather is a complete underground city.]

Several White House officials have taken their turn in the rotation, spending three or four days and nights at the site. Friends, family and colleagues stay in contact through a toll-free number and personal extensions. Officials who are activated for the duty live and work underground 24 hours a day, away from their families. The shadow government has sent home most of the first wave of deployed personnel, replacing them most commonly at 90-day intervals, the Post reported.

A government official who spoke to The Associated Press said the groups usually number 70 to 150 people, depending on the level of threat detected by U.S. intelligence. He said President Bush does not foresee ever needing to turn over government functions to the secret operation, but believed it was prudent to implement the long-standing plan in light of the gathering war on terrorism and persistent threats of future attacks.

The team, drawn from every Cabinet department and some independent agencies, would seek to prevent the collapse of essential government functions in the event of a disabling blow to Washington, the official said. The underground government would try to contain disruptions of the nation's food and water supplies, transportation links, energy and telecommunications networks, public health and civil order, the Post reported. Later, it would begin to reconstitute the government.

The government-in-waiting is an extension of a policy that has kept Vice President Dick Cheney in secure, undisclosed locations away from Washington. Cheney has moved in and out of public view as threat levels have fluctuated, at times to the same location that the senior government officials have been hidden, a government source said Friday. As next in line to power behind Bush, he would need help running the government in a worst-case scenario. [Ed. note: I should explain that Cheney runs the government for his boss, Poppa Bush (George Herbert Walker "Poppy" Bush, who runs the U.S. Corp. for his bosses -- David/Larry Rottenfeller.)

The plan gelled in December when Bush issued a little-noticed executive order that spelled out the line of succession at several key federal agencies in case a Cabinet secretary is killed or incapacitated. In great detail, the document lists -- in order of power -- the top half dozen or so officials who would take over if an agency's hierarchy was dismantled. The shadow government is drawn from that deep pool of officials who are now formally part of the line of succession, sources said.

In addition, at least one Cabinet secretary is kept out of Washington at all times to help maintain the continuity of government, one government source said. For nearly two weeks at the end of December, for example, Attorney General John Ashcroft was secretly spirited to his farm in Missouri and kept under high security.

Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D. said Congress has its own contingency plans. "Precautions have been taken and arrangements have been made to move the work of Congress to another location," he said. [Ed. note: Daschle is an idiot. In ase of an emergency the Congresscritter will be on their own. The NWO Gang doesn't need them. Only a few of them will be protected.]

The Pentagon, too, rotates top military officials to secure locations. "We move people around," said a spokesman. Civilians deployed for the operation are not allowed to take their families and may not tell anyone where they are going or why. WHITE HOUSE REVEALS CONTINGENCY PLAN

The White House briefed top members of Congress Tuesday about a "shadow government" set up in the wake of the September terrorist attacks, seeking to quiet criticism that it had ignored lawmakers in planning for a catastrophic attack on Washington.

White House officials also disputed Democratic claims that they acted without the knowledge of Congress, saying the secretary of the Senate and the Senate sergeant at arms were briefed on the contingency plans last September.

Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., who attended the White House meeting with Republican leader Trent Lott, R-Miss., said he was ready to call a "cease-fire" in the dispute over who should have been informed of the White House contingency plans. "I don't think the job was done adequately at all," Daschle told reporters. But "I don't want to complicate these plans any more by going on and on about who was informed."

The White House also planned to send Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld to Capitol Hill on Wednesday to brief senators on the course of the war against terrorism in Afghanistan and elsewhere. The White House sought to avoid another possible rift by inviting House Democratic leader Dick Gephardt to a private briefing Wednesday morning. Gephardt was not invited to Tuesday's briefing by two top White House aides, an omission that White House press secretary Ari Fleischer said was inadvertent. Gephardt's spokesman, Erik Smith, said his office didn't know about the briefing and "we're disappointed, we don't understand why they would choose not to invite Mr. Gephardt."

Few in Congress were aware of the contingency plans before they were revealed by The Washington Post last week. The plans include housing 75 to 150 senior administration officials in secure underground facilities. The officials rotate in and out of the secret sites, spending days at a time away from friends and family, to ensure that top government officials survive an attack on Washington.

Fleischer insisted that congressional leaders were informed of the plan in the proper manner, adding that lawmakers will realize that "when members of Congress have a chance to pause, think and

talk to each other." House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., who is first in line of presidential succession behind the vice president, had been previously briefed, and other "appropriate people" on Capitol Hill had been informed, Fleischer said.

Three senior administration officials said Jeri Thompson, secretary of the Senate, was briefed on Sept. 22 while she was at one of the secure facilities. Alfonso E. Lenhardt, Senate sergeant at arms, received a similar briefing on the same day. The officials provided receipts signed by the two Senate officials acknowledging that the briefings had taken place.

Fleischer said the "shadow government" was a tightly held secret because the White House did not want a repeat of the underground bunker at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulfur Springs, W.Va. It was designed to protect members of Congress in a nuclear strike, but information on the facility leaked to the public and it is now a tourist site rented out for theme parties.

Lott said he was satisfied with the White House handling of the matter. "Senators are grouchy that they aren't getting enough information," he said. "I feel frankly very much informed and sometimes I think over-informed."

Among those who were not informed of the White House plans were Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.), the chairman of the Senate intelligence committee. His spokesman Paul Anderson said Democratic staff on the committee were also not made aware of the executive branch actions.

Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., who as Senate president pro tempore follows Hastert in the line of succession, also knew nothing about the plans, said Byrd spokesman Tom Gavin. The administration officials, however, said a military official did meet with Byrd but that the senator had cut off the briefing after a few minutes, saying it was not necessary. Gavin said Byrd did tell the administration, after he became president pro tempore last June, that he did not need further information on the succession process, but "not once did they say `we want to talk about a government-in-waiting.'"

This is not the first time the Bush administration has clashed with Congress over how information is shared. Last fall the president, angered by leaks from briefings given to lawmakers on the war against terrorism, severely restricted those briefings. High-tech driver's licenses give virtually anyone a inside look at personal information of the bearer.

About 10,000 people per week go to The Rack, a bar in Boston favored by sports stars, including members of the New England Patriots. Their driver's licenses are scanned to verify the age of the bearer. If the bearer is 21 or over a red light blinks and the patron is waved through.

Thomas J. Coleman Jr., manager of "The Rack" nightclub in Boston, admitted that he can view the name, address, birth date and other personal details from a data strip on the back of the license. Even height, eye color and sometimes Social Security number are registered.

"You swipe the license, and all of a sudden someone's whole life as we know it pops up in front of you," said Paul Barclay, the bar's owner. "It's almost voyeuristic."

Mr. Barclay bought the machine to keep out underage drinkers who use fake ID's, but he soon found that he could build a database of personal information, providing an intimate perspective on his clientele that can be useful in marketing. "It's not just an ID check," he said. "It's a tool." [Ed. note: This joker is misusing the technology and most jerks like him do. If you want every moron to know intimate information about you let them swipe your license. The best thing to do is demagnetize it and patronize places where the owner is not a sexual pervert like Barclay. These jerks want the technology to get information about hot women. Barclay has NOTHING to market (sell) so he has NO business digging for info on his customers!]

Now, for any given night or hour, he can break down his clientele by sex, age, ZIP code or other characteristics. If he wanted to, he could find out how many blond women named Karen over 5 feet 2 inches came in over a weekend, or how many of his customers have the middle initial M. More practically, he can build mailing lists based on all that data and keep track of who comes back.

Bar codes and other tracking mechanisms have become one of the most powerful forces in automating and analyzing product inventory and sales over the last three decades. Now, in a trend that alarms privacy advocates, the approach is being applied to people through the simple driver's license, carried by more than 90 percent of American adults. Already, about 40 states issue driver's licenses with bar codes or magnetic stripes that carry standardized data, and most of the others plan to issue them within the next few years.

Scanners that can read the licenses are slowly proliferating across the country. So far the machines have been most popular with bars and convenience stores, which use them to thwart underage purchasers of alcohol and cigarettes.

In response to the terrorist attacks last year, scanners are now also being installed as security devices in airports, hospitals and government buildings. Many other businesses -- drugstores and other stores, car-rental agencies and casinos among them -- are expressing interest in the technology. The devices have already proved useful for law enforcement. Police departments have called bars to see if certain names and Social Security numbers show up on their customer lists. [Ed. note: When the New World Odor Gang takes total control they will easily be able to catch political dissenters who are stupid enough to use driver's licenses, credit cards, etc. The NWO Gang will simply issue a memo to all law enforcement agencies to find Patriot X. The local police departments will check with bars, nightclubs, grocery stores, gas stations, etc. to see if Patriot X is in their turf. If he is they will be able to nab him quickly.]

The electronic trails created by scanning driver's licenses are raising concerns among privacy advocates. Standards and scanning, they say, are a dangerous combination that essentially creates a de facto national identity card or internal passport that can be registered in many databases. "Function creep is a primary rule of databases and identifiers," said Barry Steinhardt, associate director of the American Civil Liberties Union, citing how the Social Security number, originally meant for old-age benefits, has become a universal identifier for financial and other transactions. "History teaches us that even if protections are incorporated in the first place, they don't stay in place for long." [Ed. note: Steinhardt is right. Once the bureaurats get a tyrannical law passed they find ways to expand the powers of that law. I should note that the ACLU is NOT interested in protecting the so-called "rights" of the American sheeple. They are a front org for the NWO Gang that pretends to be concerned to make the unwashed masses think there is a group that will not let the bureaurats tread all over them and steal their so-called "rights."] In 1994, Congress passed the Driver's Privacy Protection Act, largely in response to the murder of Rebecca Schaeffer, an actress who was killed in 1989 by an obsessed fan who had found her unlisted address by using California motor vehicle records. Before the law was adopted, states were selling driver's license information to direct marketing companies, charities and political campaigns. Businesses selling, for example, fitness products and plus-size clothing were able to focus on customers within a given range of height or weight. [Ed. note: Those states sold the info without letting their victims know what they were doing. This is proof that bureaurats will always abuse technology.]

While the privacy act staunched the flow of information from state motor vehicle departments, there are only spotty controls over how businesses can create such databases on their own. In Texas, the driver's licenses can be electronically scanned for age verification, but the information cannot be downloaded from the machine. In New York, businesses are only allowed to store name, birth date, driver's license ID number and expiration date for the purpose of age verification. Many states require people to give consent to be on marketing lists, but businesses generally interpret consent to mean not actively removing their names from a list. When Mr. Barclay, the bar owner, saw a demonstration of Intelli-Check driver's license scanner at a trade show in 1999, he was surprised. HAWAIIN MOTORISTS ARE WATCHED CLOSELY

The Hawaii Transportation Department has begun using van-mounted cameras to catch speeders in the act -- a practice some motorists consider so underhanded they are trying to subvert the system.

The cameras, introduced on Oahu two months ago and operated by a private company, are coupled with radar and automatically photograph a speeder's license plate. A ticket is then issued by mail to the car's owner. The devices are supposed to catch violators the way red-light cameras have been doing for years,

without the danger of a police chase. Proponents say that the system will save lives and that it has already proved itself by slowing down traffic. [Ed. note: This system has been in use in Germany and many other countries for more than 30 years! The New World Odor Gang has been wiring the world with their spy cameras and America is one of the last countries to get plugged in. It is only a matter of time before we see spy cameras on the highways, freeways, city streets and neighborhoods. Drivers and civil liberties lawyers complain the system unfairly assumes that the owner of the car was the person behind the wheel. They also say the cameras are an invasion of privacy and that the state is more interested in speeding-ticket revenue than safety. "It's pretty crazy. Unless they can really identify you and everything, I think it's a pretty worthless situation," said 44-year-old John McGee, who beat his ticket on a technicality.

Even lawmakers who originally supported the project are having second thoughts. The state Senate voted unanimously late Tuesday to scrap the cameras -- setting up a battle with the House, which voted Friday to modify the program by requiring clearer photographic evidence of who was driving. Legislative committees will now try to hammer out a final measure.

Republican state Rep. Charles Djou called the program "an unreasonable intrusion by government into individual lives." "Many of my constituents have complained to me that this photo enforcement system is sort of a `gotcha' law enforcement," he said. "It is a high-tech bounty hunter system that captures not only the lawbreakers but also law-abiding citizens." [Ed. note: Spy cams on highways and elsewhere are part of the NWO Gang's Big Brother program. The speed cams are a way of also generating money.]

Many states use cameras to catch people running through red lights. Only about a dozen communities -- in Hawaii, Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington, D.C. -- are using the cameras to try to catch speeders, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

City officials in Denver last week suspended their program and dismissed all tickets after a judge ruled that the system illegally gave police powers to a private contractor. The judge also ruled that the program violated state law by appearing to compensate the contractor based on the volume of tickets issued.

Hawaii, which has only three short freeways, is the first state to pass a statewide law allowing photo-enforced radar along state roads. Yet about 200 tickets have been thrown out so far because of technical glitches and legal loopholes big enough to drive a truck through. Many were dismissed because the tickets did not specifically state that the person issuing the ticket -- the camera operator -- was certified to run the radar equipment. That problem was later fixed. Last week, a judge threw out dozens more tickets, ruling that drivers going less than 10 mph over the speed limit should not be ticketed because doing so would conflict with Honolulu Police Department practice.

Some radio stations and newspaper Web sites have been gleefully broadcasting the location of vans. State officials, stung by allegations that they were not interested in safety, eventually responded by issuing a list of where the four vans might be at any given time. KSSK morning disc jockeys Michael W. Perry and Larry Price on Thursday enlisted listeners and got the locations phoned in within a few minutes. "Four for four," announced Price, reviewing the location of each van for motorists.

Transportation Director Brian Minaai described the wrangling over the project as "all part of the learning experience." "I think we all can admit that the pace of all the cars on the freeways are a lot slower, if not more in line with the speed limit," he said.

In Canada, deaths dropped 20% on roads where speed cameras were used, and in Britain, 28% fewer crashes involved injury, according to Russ Rader, a spokesman for the Insurance Institute. "The whole idea is to deter the offense" he said, "and that's what speed cameras do."

Brent White, legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii, said many people are worried about where this might lead. "If the government can put up these cameras to catch people going a couple miles per hour over the speed limit, what's to keep them from putting up similar cameras to catch people doing other things, like jaywalking?" he said.

SMART CARD WORRIES HONG KONG RESIDENTS

In 1949, Mao Tse-tung's communists conquered mainland China and set off a massive flow of emigration to this city, then a comparatively prosperous British colony.

To sort out newcomers from residents, Hong Kong introduced compulsory cardboard identity cards. Now, Hong Kongers are about to be issued a new ID card. This time, they're getting so-called "smart" cards, with embedded computer chips that hold names, pictures and birthdates -- as well as a digital template of both thumbprints.

Then as now, the mandatory cards are largely aimed at controlling Chinese immigration. Although Hong Kong is now a part of China under separate governance, border control remains tight. "We've long had illegal immigration problems and everyone got used to carrying the identity card," said Eric Wong, Hong Kong's deputy director of immigration. "People just think it's a way of life."

Despite the worries of civil libertarians, smart ID cards -- some with biometric data, like thumbprints -- are gaining momentum elsewhere in Asia and Western Europe.

Although Hong Kong's government backed down on proposals to have the cards carry health and bank records, civil libertarians like lawmaker Sin Chung-kai, who represents Hong Kong's technology sector, still have reservations. "No matter how secure a system is, there is always a risk that it might get hacked into," Sin said.

Plastic smart cards, about the size of credit cards, contain embedded microchips loaded with data. Around the world, they are often used in public telephones and for electronic cash payments. In the Hong Kong ID card, personal details such as name, birthdate, gender, residential status and conditions of stay for non-citizens are stored in the microchip and protected by encryption.

A subject of considerable debate in the United States after the September 11 attacks, such cards are now optional in several countries that have either introduced them or plan to -- including Finland, Malaysia and Japan. Besides using them as simple IDs, Hong Kongers will use their cards to bypass the notoriously long waits when leaving or entering Hong Kong.

Smart card holders will speed through Hong Kong immigration, using self-service kiosks that match digital biometric data on the card against the cardholder's fingerprint image read by a scanner. "People will simply insert the card, press their thumb against a detector and the system will match the data," Wong said. Still, many Hong Kongers were alarmed when the government floated the idea of a high-tech card loaded with personal information.

With local smart card hackers already showing their prowess, they feared the IDs presented too tempting a target. In Hong Kong and China as elsewhere, black marketeers sell pirated cable television decoders that use bootleg smart cards to decrypt pay TV channels. To address public fears, Hong Kong's government opted against requiring the cards to serve as driving licenses and library cards.

With those and other applications optional, the government hopes its scaled-back proposal can be approved by lawmakers and launched next year. The digital fingerprint characteristics will be stored on the card only -- not in a government database -- so even if a hacker penetrated the system, there would be no fingerprint data to steal.

If the card is stolen, officials say the data on the chip can't be easily retrieved. Officials estimate the seven-year plan to distribute the mandatory cards to all Hong Kong residents, aged 11 and up, will cost $400 million. [Ed. note: Since this program will take at least seven years we know that the Tribulation cannot start for at least seven years. Since every nation on Earth must implement this program or a similar one we know it will be a decade or two before the Tribulation can start.]

The expense includes computer database, networks, card readers, technical support and additional staff. An initial $21 million contract was awarded last month to a consortium led by local telecoms company Pacific Century CyberWorks and including Mondex International of Britain. Other governments launching smart ID cards have opted for less strict programs.

In September, Malaysia introduced an optional smart card called MyKad that functions as a driver's license and contains passport information. It may someday contain banking data and biometric data. Japan plans next year to introduce an optional smart ID containing the cardholder's signature, photo and address.

SWISS SUCCUMB TO THE NEW WORLD ORDOR GANG

The Swiss finally succumbed to the wishes of the New World Odor Gang by joining the United Nations on Sunday.

They apparently decided the prospect of having a greater role in today's interlinked world was more compelling than fears that it would threaten the nation's centuries-old tradition of neutrality. Switzerland, which had been neutral for almost 200 years, will become the United Nations' 190th member. Only the Vatican remains outside the world body. [Ed. note: I should note that the Vatican is a nation, a city state. It has ambassadors and many nations have ambassadors in Vatican City. It is the city that has been ruling the world for millenium (Rev. 17.18)!]

During the Cold War, Switzerland feared U.N. membership would sweep it into the battles between East and West. More recently, opponents have feared having to submit to the political dictates of the Security Council. The Swiss have practiced forms of neutrality on and off since the 13th century, but the principle was laid down formally in the 1815 Treaty of Paris that ended the Napoleonic Wars. In that pact, European powers guaranteed the "perpetual neutrality" of Switzerland. The Swiss themselves made it part of their 1848 constitution. Treating both sides in a war evenhandedly has remained a guiding principle since, although recent historical reviews have said Switzerland went too far in helping the Germans in World War II. [Ed. note: Had Germany won WWII they would have accused the Swiss of going too far in helping the Allies.]

The popular vote gave the bid for U.N. membership a comfortable 55-45 percent approval, but the crucial second hurdle -- approval by at least half the country's cantons (states) -- received a much narrower 12-11 result. The referendum had the highest turnout in a decade, with 58% of qualified voters participating. Switzerland's three or four annual referendums often draw only 40-50% of voters. Nationwide, 1,489,062 people voted in favor, compared with 1,237,725 against.

Small mountain cantons -- most of them German-speaking -- voted heavily against the United Nations, but the French-speaking cantons of the west and key German-speaking cantons of central Switzerland prevailed with their yes vote. It was a sharp reversal of a similar Swiss vote in 1986, when 75% rejected U.N. membership, backing opponents who said East-West polarization would compromise Swiss neutrality. The government pushed the latest initiative, believing that the political climate has changed since the height of the Cold War and that it was time for the 7 million Swiss to play a full role in the world.

Billionaire industrialist Christoph Blocher -- a nationalist politician who led the opposition this time -- said he "deeply regretted" the outcome. "It will lead to the weakening of Switzerland," he said. "Freedom and the rights of the people will be limited, and neutrality will at the very least be deeply damaged." [Ed. note: He is RIGHT! The main reason for this bowing to the NWO Gang is so the Edomites can audit all of the banks in Switzerland and continue their drive to extort billions of dollars out of the Swiss banking industry. The Edomites also want total control over Switzerland through their world government body.]

Foreign Minister Joseph Deiss assured voters, "Switzerland remains neutral." The seven-member governing Cabinet, which had campaigned hard for approval, expressed relief at the outcome. "Everyone stands to gain from this," a government statement said. "Switzerland will now be better able to safeguard its interests and assume its responsibilities in the world." [Ed. note: What a fantastic LIE! Switzerland is doomed!]

Swiss industry and banks had feared a no vote would make Switzerland an international outcast with a selfish and uncaring reputation. "Today is a great day for Switzerland," said Deiss. [Ed. note: Deiss is either a total IDIOT or a NWO underling!]

President Kaspar Villiger said he was concerned that the cantonal vote was so close and said it indicated a "malaise" that had to be studied and taken seriously. Switzerland has not moved to join any military alliance, such as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, but it does have a longer-term goal of joining the European Union, which is expected to encounter even tougher resistance. Deiss said the U.N. vote had "nothing to do with entry into the EU." [Ed. note: Switzerland will almost certainly join the EU.]

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who also had urged Swiss voters to approve membership, welcomed the vote and said it took the United Nations closer to universality. The referendum recalled Switzerland's vote to join the United Nations' forerunner, the League of Nations, in 1920. Switzerland became a member, but the league was seen as largely ineffectual -- in part because the United States stayed out. Switzerland has long been a dues-paying member of some U.N. specialized agencies like the World Health Organization and the International Labor Organization. Recently it has been stepping up its contributions to peacekeeping operations. [Ed. note: Giving money to the NWO Gang via the UN is a bad move. The Swiss are out of touch with reality.]

The nationalists plastered the country with posters calling U.N. membership a waste of money. The government says membership should cost $42 million a year, but dismisses that amount as minimal in comparison with the $1.8 billion a year brought to Switzerland annually by the presence of the United Nations' European headquarters in Geneva. After Switzerland notifies Annan of its intention to join, the application must be approved by nine of the 15 members of the Security Council with no veto, and by two-thirds of the General Assembly. General Assembly president Han Sueng-soo congratulated the Swiss on the outcome of the referendum, saying it reflected "the will and aspiration of the people of Switzerland to enhance the cooperation with the world body in addressing the global challenges that lie ahead in the 21st Century." GUILLOTINE TO BE USED IN GEORGIA

Georgia lawmaker Doug Teper (Democrat) has proposed a bill to replace the state's electric chair with the guillotine.

Teper argues that the guillotine would allow for death-row inmates to be organ donors since the "Blade makes a clean cut and leaves vital organs intact." In 1995, a move to replace the electric chair with lethal injection (poisoning) failed in Georgia's assembly because legislators feared that prisoners could argue for a new sentencing hearing if the state changed the law.

The guillotine, which was invented in France by Dr. Guillotine in the 18th Century, was mainly used in the 18th and 19th Centuries. It hasn't been used for decades in any country.

CONCEALED WEAPONS BAN IS ILLEGAL!

A state judge ruled Thursday that Ohio's decades-old ban on concealed weapons was unconstitutional. [Ed. note: AMEN!!!!!]

The state immediately appealed, arguing that the law is reasonable and has been upheld by a higher court. "There is no fundamental and absolute constitutional right to carry a concealed weapon," the appeal said. Attorneys for Ohio, the city of Cincinnati and Hamilton County also contended that Common Pleas Judge Robert Ruehlman wasn't impartial, because he has publicly questioned the ban and his wife and child were threatened by a gunman who tried to abduct them in 1989. [Ed. note: The Constitution says: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" (Admendment 2). The Constitution says the people can "bear arms" and the State (local, state, federal bureaurats) CANNOT "infringe" on this right. They CANNOT prohibit a person from bearing a weapon openly or concealed! The bureat argument that ONLY members of State approved militias (state or federal guard units) can bear arms while on duty is ABSURD! This amendment was designed to give WE THE PEOPLE a way to keep the "State" (local, state, federal governments) from tyrannizing us! If we have to submit to their demands concerning this amendment the amendment is nullified! This is a NO-BRAINER and that is exactly what the Founding Father said concerning it!]

Ruehlman ordered police not to enforce the ban, which covers carrying concealed weapons or having loaded weapons in a vehicle. The state later won a delay in his order pending a hearing January 22. Ruehlman said the law effectively barred people from protecting themselves. "The very thought a potential victim might possess a firearm deters that element of our society that cares nothing about laws or human life but rather understands only one thing -- brute force," Ruehlman wrote. [Ed. note: Even though this is not a reason why the Founding Fathers gave WE THE PEOPLE this privilege (right) it is a logical argument for it.]

Ohio allows only law enforcement officials and state and federal government officers to carry concealed weapons. Five people who said their jobs required them to carry weapons for self-defense challenged the law in 2000, saying the Ohio Constitution allows citizens to bear arms, concealed or not. [Ed. note: I do not know how the Ohio constitution reads, but it doesn't matter whether it gives the people the privilege (right) or not to carry weapons. NO state, county or city can pass a law prohibiting people from carrying any weapon openly or concealed!]

Richard Ganulin, a lawyer for the city of Cincinnati, said the judge's order contradicts Ohio Supreme Court rulings from the 1920s upholding the state's authority to ban concealed weapons. "There's no question. It's binding -- unless the Supreme Court of Ohio chooses to overrule itself," Ganulin said. Forty-three states allow concealed weapons in some form. EURO IS ANOTHER STEP TOWARD UNITY

European visionaries realized their dream of uniting the continent with a single currency for 12 nations and 300 million people as the euro came into circulation last night, at midnight.

In an atmosphere of celebration, mixed with some trepidation in EU capitals, the project that has been more than 30 years in the making came to life as people triumphantly pulled colorful euro notes from cash machines.

The entry of the euro marks the exit of 12 national currencies, ancient and modern, which will all cease to be legal tender in the eurozone within two months. It will be the first time since the Roman Empire that bread, wine and salt can be bought with the same coin throughout western Europe. For Europe's leaders, it was the most emotive moment in the post-war history of European integration. [Ed. note: The EU is a forerunner of the final ten nation confederacy that will rule the world (Revelation 17.12) under the control of the Babylonian Edomite Talmudic Roman Catholic Corporation (Rev. 17.1-5,18) and then under control of the beast (Rev. 13.1-8) after he destroys the BETRCC (Rev. 17.16,17). Some of the nations in the EU will drop out while others will join before the final configuration is put together. Look for the Anglo-Saxon nations to drop out and form their own federation.]

Romano Prodi, the European Commission's president, said the new currency was a "resounding success" that would bring economic stability and give Europe a greater voice in the world. "This is a very special day, a great day for Europe," he said. "Only a few years ago the euro was a dream, but now we have made it a reality." [Ed. note: It is a sad day for the peoples of the world who love freedom. It is only a matter of time before the EU evolves into the final 10 nation confederacy.]

Across what is now known as euroland, EU leaders said the currency had proved itself since its launch in non-cash form on January 1, 1999, keeping inflation at bay and shielding Europe against currency turbulence after the terrorism of September 11.

Prodi said the single currency would inevitably lead to further harmonization of the EU's economies. "I believe we have taken a major step that ineluctably leads to greater convergence of economic rules," he said. It was a gradual process, "which starts tomorrow."

Chancellor Schröder of Germany, the leader of a country that is still deeply sceptical about the euro, told his people to have faith in the future. "The German mark meant a lot to us," he said. "We link the mark with memories of good times in Germany. But you can be sure that even better times are ahead.

"We are witnessing the dawn of an age that the people of Europe have dreamed of for centuries: borderless travel and payment in a common currency."

Of the 15 EU nations, only Britain, Sweden and Denmark retain their own currencies. Wim Duisenberg, the president of the European Central Bank, urged them: "Come and join us." [Ed. note: The Anglo-Saxon nations are balking at full unity in the EU and most of them, if not all, will eventually jump ship.]

Wim tried to allay the fears of those who think that monetary union would accelerate the erosion of national identities. "The euro will not wipe out different cultures in Europe. We want to preserve the different cultures and languages for ever," he explained. [Ed. note: That's a lie. The New World Odor Gang wants to eliminate ALL cultures and languages and create a world culture and language of their making. They will never do it but they will give it a try.]

"The launch of euro notes and coins today is a historic event. The euro has become a reality for 300 million people across Europe - from France to Finland and from Italy to Ireland. In or out of the euro, it will affect Britain," said Peter Hain, Britain's Europe minister.

Norman Lamont, the former chancellor who took Britain out of the European exchange rate mechanism nine years ago, said the country should "rejoice, rejoice, rejoice" that sterling was still legal tender. "The euro has increased the risk of recession in euroland," he said. [Ed. note: Lamont is right.]

The final preparations for the most audacious monetary experiment in history went like clockwork. There were fewer robberies than usual and no evidence to date that anybody had succeeded in counterfeiting the notes, which are fitted with high-tech hologram designs that change in the light as they are tilted.

More than six billion notes and 37 billion coins worth 144 billion euros have been distributed to shops, banks, and cash machines. Another 526 billion euros have been produced and will go into circulation in the coming days or be held in reserve.

On the last day of currency trading in 2001, the euro edged higher against both sterling and the dollar -- £1 equals 1.6320 euro and $1 equals 1.1223 euro -- as analysts predicted that the currency would receive a lift if the changeover went well.

Giulio Tremonti, the Italian economy minister, was one of those who did not share the general enthusiasm for the healing powers of the euro. "I am slightly reticent to start walking down a path full of . . . primates waving banners, faith healers, shamans, miracle makers and bankers," he told La Stampa newspaper.

"I find this idea that the euro will bring peace and end wars is particularly odd. Wars end when consumerism triumphs over romanticism." The promise of the NWOG that a fully united EU will end the threat of war is absurd. It's easier to control nations as a group rather than individually.

As I noted above -- look for a shake up in the EU membership with the Anglo-Saxon nations dropping out to form their own union and others joining. Eventually the EU will grow to a few dozen nations with ten of them forming a ruling elite group that will be the 10 nation confederacy of the Tribulation period.

EU TO GROW BY 13 MORE

By 2004, Brussels will have become a "Tower of Babel," say concerned officials and MEPs as they prepare to accept 13 more nations.

That is the year when a host of new states will join the European Union -- increasing the number of official languages from 11 to 21. An army of fresh interpreters will be needed. "It's already complicated enough translating everything into 11 languages. It's going to be a real horror with 10 more," said one EU translator. "People are having to be trained to even recognize some of the new languages. The interpreters are going to have their work cut out. Already there are MEPs who can barely speak their own language clearly."

The changes will cost hundreds of millions of euros. The European Commission's annual policy strategy report foresees an extra cost of £12.5 million this year in preparations alone. The commission has said that while maintaining the principle of multi-lingualism -- enshrined in the first regulation adopted by what was then the European Economic Community in 1958 - it is hoping to keep a lid on costs by modernising and better co-ordination between staff.

The commission's language service already employs about 1,500 translators who battle through 1.3 million pages of documents a year; 700 interpreters are needed each day to cover official meetings, of which there are more than 11,000 each year, at a cost of more than £494 million. "Eurocrats" have estimated that each new language will require at least 110 new translation staff and 40 extra interpreters. Together with support staff, this will result in a further 2,500 civil servants being added to the 17,000 already working in Brussels.

The EU is currently negotiating with 13 states -- Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey -- over their prospective entry into the Union. A decision on which countries will join is expected by the end of this year, but most are likely to be in the first wave of new entrants in 2004.

The arrival of new members from eastern Europe is likely to see a growing use of English, much to the annoyance of the other big EU powers, especially the French. "The negotiations about enlargement were carried out while France was presiding over the European Union," said one European official. "But every one of the representatives from the countries wishing to enter carried out their discussions in English. The Romanians would take the headphones to listen to the translation in French, but they always expressed themselves in English. The French were furious." [Ed. note: The poor Frenchies don't understand that English is the universal language. Eventually all languages will become dead languages as Latin has except for English. Too bad Frenchies!]

The growing use of English prompted the Italian representative, Maria Campongrande, to write to Romano Prodi, the commission president, to protest at what she described as the "stifling and constant evangelism of English. Even at the United Nations, where all the official languages are rigorously broadcast and protected, English does not benefit from such a preponderance," she complained. [Ed. note: The Italians should realize that English will become the universal language and Italian will go the way of Latin.]

About 60 per cent of EU documents are now drafted in English, compared with less than 40 per cent in French and one per cent in German. A recent EU survey found that 56 per cent of the population of EU member states spoke English as a first or second language, while angry Francophones stride the corridors of European power, muttering about an Anglo-Saxon plot. For months, Richard McCaslin fixated on the Bohemian Club and its secret ceremonies, which some critics claim involve pagan rituals and human sacrifices.

The former Marine was a regular listener to a Texas radio talk show host who says the annual retreat near Monte Rio is part of a conspiracy of rich and powerful men. McCaslin said he broke into the Bohemian Grove, armed with a small arsenal, to do something, possibly violent, to bring attention to the rituals. Only security guards were inside, however, and he was arrested Sunday after a brief standoff with sheriff's deputies and CHP officers.

Bohemian Club officials and Sonoma County residents familiar with the summer encampment, where men have gathered for more than a century for parties and discussions of weighty issues, dismissed claims of human sacrifices and other bizarre rituals. The annual encampment in a 2,700-acre grove has long been a target for protesters who say public policy is being formed in secret.

It also has attracted more and more attention from people like McCaslin who are convinced there's a conspiracy of silence hiding a darker side of the club. The encampments have become the subject of discussions on the Internet and talk radio, including an Austin, Texas, program by Alex Jones that is heard on 100 stations around the country.

McCaslin said he listened to Jones while living in Austin before moving last month to Carson City, Nevada, to plan his attack. McCaslin said he also watched an hourlong film Jones produced. On Tuesday, Jones said he was stunned by the incident. "I think it's horrible ... sounds completely insane."

But Jones defended his claims about human sacrifices. He managed to get inside the grove on one day of the 2000 encampment and filmed a ceremony with a tiny camera. "If my neighbor was worshipping a 40-foot stone owl and burned children on a fire, I wouldn't let that neighbor walk my dog or baby-sit my children. Instead these people are baby-sitting the big red button," Jones said. "This is some sick stuff."

Officials for the Bohemian Club, based in San Francisco, said they have watched Jones' film and are aware of the conspiracy theories but deny claims of human sacrifice. "They see what they want to see. It's not true," said Matt Oggero, the club's general manager. "These are misguided people who are manufacturing things about the grove, unfortunately."

Mary Moore of the Bohemian Grove Action Network, a group that has organized protests for more than 20 years, has heard the claims of human sacrifices. She also has watched both the Jones film and another produced by an independent British TV station. "I've looked into these things over the years, but I've never taken them seriously because it detracts from what we're trying to accomplish," Moore said. "We've had different inside people over the years," she said. "It's bizarre, but not criminal." [Ed. note: She is down-playing the truth about those criminals to not be labeled a conspiracy nut.]

The claims of human sacrifices, nevertheless, persist, joining a catalog of conspiracy theories involving such subjects as the Council on Foreign Relations, the Kennedy assassination and, most recently, whether the U.S. government had prior knowledge of the September 11, terrorist attacks. Jones said he is not a conspiracy theorist and relies on government reports, interviews and other sources. "All we do is report the news here."

Jones, also a documentary filmmaker, managed to get inside the grove, which is divided into dozens of camps. He said he relied on his Texas accent to claim he was a member of Hillbillies Camp, whose members include President Bush and his father. "It's just called bravado. I was just calm and when they would ask me weird stuff ... I just basically went `ooh, yes,'" Jones said in an interview during a live broadcast of his talk show Tuesday. He filmed the Bohemian Club ritual that is the source of the human sacrifice claims. [Ed. note: I don't know if the Jones video is for real, but the BC boys most likely engage in human sacrifice as many other devil worshippers do.]

Part of the opening ceremony of the two-week encampment, it features members wearing red-hooded robes who burn an elaborate effigy at the base of the 40-foot owl altar. The effigy symbolizes the cares of the world that these men carry. Hooded priests praise the owl and a black-hooded boatman crosses the lake with the bound effigy.

In his film, Jones said he can make out a bound child begging for its life and that he heard screams. "Those aren't rumors anymore," he said. British writer and filmmaker Jon Ronson also used the film in a documentary on Jones' effort to get inside the grove and view the opening ceremony.

Moore countered that what Jones watched was a simulated sacrifice and that his film trivializes years of work by protesters. Moore went on Jones' radio talk show to explain that the protesters' goal is to raise awareness about what club members do with their power and influence and not the seemingly silly things members do inside the grove. "They're floating policy ideas up there," she said. "That message is getting lost in the general craziness of child sacrifice and the owl worship and the rest of it. It could become a distraction from what we're trying to accomplish." [Ed. note: The BC boys may have let Jones film a child sacrifice knowing he would not be believed and it would cause most sheeple who hear about it to distrust ALL conspiracy "nuts." The best way to discredit investigators is to let them see something so bizarre no "rational" person would believe it is for real.]

Discussions at the grove often deal with government, military, economic, and science and technology topics. Other activities include plays and comedy -- some with men in drag -- drinking, dining and dominoes. Members and guests have included former presidents and Cabinet secretaries including Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, Henry Kissinger, George Schultz and Caspar Weinberger.

Others who have attended include the late CIA Director William Casey, Secretary of State Colin Powell, nuclear physicist Edward Teller, leaders of IBM, Dupont, Bank of America and the World Bank.

Secret meetings of such an elite, powerful group also worry Jones, a frequent critic of U.S. government conduct and domestic and foreign policy.

Jones gained a measure of notoriety for leading the effort to build a memorial church at the site of the Branch Davidian church in Waco, Texas. The church complex burned during the 1993 standoff between federal authorities and David Koresh and his followers, killing 76 Davidians. "A spotlight deserves and needs to be shown on what's happening there," he said of the Bohemian Club encampments.

McCaslin's break-in, however, could make access even more difficult if the already tight security during the encampment is bolstered. "Now they'll be able to militarize it even further," Jones said. [Ed. note: McCaslin is a NUT! The way to expose these conspirators is to get the goods on them without them knowing until you go public.]

McCaslin, a clean-cut man with a slight Southern accent, managed to set a small fire that caused minimal damage during his foray into the camp. He also left Bible pamphlets at the foot of the owl statue. He said a security official for the club interviewed him for more than an hour at the jail on Monday. "We are reviewing our security procedures and will take those steps necessary to provide adequate security at the grove both during upcoming summer events and during the rest of the season," Oggero said.

As planned, starting the first of the year, Arrow Plastics stopped all withholding from its' 145 employees. A few of the people are upset because they now have to take responsibility to pay a tax that they have determined they are responsible for. Two employees actually quit because of the new tax posture Arrow has taken. The rest have taken a wait and see attitude. About half have said that they would not file this year based on the education they have been given by the company. NOTICE I said EDUCATION not ADVICE. On January 31, we filed corrected and amended W-2s, 941s 940 and 1099s for the past three years. This involved $2,954,607.00 in remuneration. We hired four new people in January. We told them we did not need their Social Security number nor did we require a W4 from them. Needless to say they were delighted, after I gave them an explanation as to why we didn't need this information.

And that reason is basically this:

Arrow does not have the authority nor the police power to determine if they [the people who work for them] are or are not responsible for any tax what-so-ever. Also Arrow has determined that it is not an agent for any government agency, including the IRS. THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANK IS A PRIVATE COMPANY. Article 1, Section 8 of our Constitution states that Congress shall have the power to coin money and regulate the value thereof. Today, however, the FED, which is a privately owned company, controls and profits from coining (printing) money through the U.S. Treasury, and regulates its value.

The FED began with approximately 300 people (banks) that became the owners, (stockholders purchasing stock at $100 per share û stock is not publicly traded) in the Federal Reserve Banking System. They make up an international banking cartel of wealth

beyond comparison (Reference 1, 14). The FED banking system collects billions of dollars (Reference 8, 17) in usury annually and distributes the profits to the shareholders. How did it happen? After previous attempts to push the Federal Reserve Act through Congress, a group of bankers funded and staffed Woodrow WilsonÆs campaign for President. He had committed to sign this act. In 1913, a Senator, Nelson Aldrich, maternal grandfather of the Rockefellers, pushed the Federal Reserve Act through Congress just before Christmas when much of Congress was on vacation (Reference 3,4,5). When elected, Wilson passed the FED. Later Wilson remorsefully replied (referring to the FED), "I have unwillingly ruined my country" (Reference 17, P.31). Now the banks

financially back sympathetic candidates. Not surprisingly, most of these candidates are elected (Reference 1, P.208-210, Reference 12, P. 235, Reference 14, P. 36). The bankers employ members of the Congress on weekends (nickname T&T club) with lucrative salaries (Reference 1, P. 209). Additionally, the FED started buying up the media in the 1930Æs and now owns or significantly influences most of it (Reference 3,10,11, Reference 1, P. 145)

President Lincoln, Jackson, and Kennedy tried to stop this family of bankers by printing U.S. dollars without charging the taxpayers usury (Reference 4). Today, if the government runs a deficit, the FED prints dollars through the U.S. Treasury, buys the debt, and the dollars are circulated into the economy. In 1993, taxpayers paid the FED banking system $986 Billion in usury on debt the FED purchased by printing money virtually cost free (Reference 12, P. 265).

As of May, 1994, 100 percent of our federal income taxes go to pay this usury. The FED's books are not open to the public. Congress has yet to audit it.

Congressman Wright Patman was Chairman of the House Committee on Banking and currency for 40 years. For 20 of those years, he introduced legislation to repeal the Federal Reserve Banking Act of 1913. Congressman Henry Gonzalez, a Chairman of the House Banking Committee, introduced legislation to repeal the FED Banking Act of 1913 nearly every year. It's always defeated, the media remains silent, and the public never learns the truth. The same bankers who own the FED control the media and give huge political contributions to sympathetic members of Congress (Reference 12, P. 155-163)

"Radio-frequency identification chips, which have found a home in applications ranging from toll road passes to smart retail shelves, may be close to taking up residence in the human body.

A Florida-based company has introduced a passive RFID chip that is compatible with human tissue, and the developer is proposing the chip for use on implantable pacemakers, defibrillators and artificial joints. The company, Applied Digital Solutions (Palm Beach, Fla.), also said that the chip could be injected through a syringe and used as a sort of "human bar code" in security applications.

Called the VeriChip, the device could open up a broad new segment for the $900 million-a-year RFID business, especially if society embraces the idea of using microchips for human identification. Applied Digital executives ultimately believe that the worldwide market for such implantable chips could reach $70 billion per year. "The human market for this technology could be huge," said Keith Bolton, senior vice president of technology development at the company...The announcement of the chip's availability created a media stir, however - not because of its potential use with pacemakers but because of its science-fiction- like potential application in human identification systems.

Because the microchip and its antenna measure just 11.1 x 2.1 mm, Applied Digital Solutions said the assembly can be injected through a syringe and implanted in various locations within the body.

The tube-shaped VeriChip includes a memory that holds 128 characters of information, an electromagnetic coil for transmitting data and a tuning capacitor, all encapsulated within a silicone-and-glass enclosure. The passive RF unit, which operates at 125 kHz, is activated by moving a company-designed scanner within about a foot of the chip. Doing so excites the coil and "wakes up" the chip, enabling it to transmit data.

The chips are said to be similar to those that are already implanted in about a million dogs and cats nationwide to enable pet owners to identify and reclaim animals that have been temporarily lost. Applied Digital Solutions, which has made the pet-tracking chips for several years, says that the human chips differ mainly in the biocompatible coating that's used to keep the body from rejecting the implanted chip. The VeriChip is believed to be the first such chip designed for human identification.

Inspired by September 11, 2001

In September, Applied Digital Solutions implanted its first human chip when a New Jersey surgeon, Richard Seelig, injected two of the chips into himself. He placed one chip in his left forearm and the other near the artificial hip in his right leg.

"He was motivated after he saw firefighters at the World Trade Center in September writing their Social Security numbers on their forearms with Magic Markers," Bolton said. "He thought that there had to be a more sophisticated way of doing an identification."

Applied Digital said Seelig, who serves as a medical consultant to the company, has now had the chips implanted in him for three months with no signs of rejection or infection...Applied Digital's executives said the ability to inject the chips opens up a variety of RFID applications in high-security situations, as well other types of human identification systems. The chips, they said, could be implanted in young children or in adults with Alzheimer's disease, to help officials identify people who can't identify themselves...

A consortium of major manufacturers has sought to push the technology as a replacement for bar codes in everyday products ranging from cereal boxes to shaving cream cans, but the cost hasn't dropped low enough to make that feasible. More recently, a group led by the European Central Bank began work on embedding RFID chips in the euro bank note, but the chip category has yet to find its killer app...Some engineers suggested the technology might

ultimately be scaled down, making the chip's acceptance more likely. At Alien Technology Corp. (Morgan Hill, Calif.), engineers have already discussed using that company's ultrasmall RFID chips in human applications.

Alien, which uses a process known as fluidic self-assembly to create chips measuring 350 x 350 microns, has demonstrated its 900-MHz technology on everyday products such as soap and shampoo bottles. The coded information can be detected and read across distances measuring almost 3 feet. "There are companies making RFID tags that are much smaller than a couple of millimeters," said Andy Holman, director of business development for Alien Technology.

Analysts also suggested that human identification technology would be more likely to be popularized when engineers are able to integrate more memory and other features, such as global- positioning satellite units and induction-based power-recharging techniques. GPS might help find lost children and adults, they said, while larger memories would enable doctors to store vital patient information. The concept "goes all the way back to the 1960s," said Jerry Krasner, vice president of market intelligence for American Technology International Inc.'s Embedded Forecasters Group. "What's new is the ability to store a lot of data. "As soon as you can do that, you'll see more applications for this type of technology," he said." (Charles J. Smet said the scheme would give people dignity by giving them an identity if their papers had been lost or destroyed. He also said it would allow countries to open their borders to genuine travellers or asylum seekers, because they would be able to prove the identity of any over-stayers and deport them without argument from their home country. Ruddock appeared unconvinced by the merits of the plan.  FINGERPRINT DATA BASE IS ON ITS WAY

A fingerprint system viewed as a critical tool for catching suspected terrorists trying to enter the United States won't be up and running for years, the Justice Department's inspector general said Friday.

The system's projected costs have ballooned to an estimated $1.2 billion and might rise to $1.9 billion, according to a report by the inspector general's office, an investigation and auditing division that looks into waste, fraud and abuse at the department. Deployment has been bogged down by field tests ordered by the Justice Department, even though three studies have already concluded that the system can be built, the report said. [Ed. note: The cost of this system will most likely top $2,000,000,000 due to greed by the contract companies and incompetence by the bureaurats in charge of it.]

The two-year-old project, ordered by Congress after the 1999 "Railway Killer" case, will merge the now-separate fingerprint files of the FBI and Immigration and Naturalization Service to ensure that FBI suspects don't slip through cracks in border enforcement. [Ed. note: Terrorists will always be able to slip through the cracks just as criminals will always be able to get guns. When the borders are tightened too much the terrorists will recruit men who have no criminal record or ties to them.]

"The department and its components have moved slowly towards integration of the two fingerprint systems," said Glenn A. Fine, inspector general. "In light of the events of September 11, the need for linkage is more critical than ever." Gina Talamona, a Justice Department spokeswoman, said the department was still reviewing the inspector general's report and couldn't comment on it.

The September 11, attacks brought to light deficiencies in border control and sparked calls for tighter border security. Security has been beefed up, but separate fingerprint systems have been seen as a flaw. Congress ordered the department to create the system after border agents picked up but failed to detain a Mexican man wanted by the FBI in connection with nine murders along rail lines. Angel Maturino Resendiz, who used the alias Rafael Resendez-Ramirez and became known as the "Railway Killer," killed four people before he surrendered in July 1999. He was charged in seven of the murders.

Cost estimates have skyrocketed from around $570 million to between $1.2 billion and $1.9 billion because the INS says it will need more staff and detention facilities [concentration camps] to handle criminals that may be caught by the new system. That caused the Justice Department to "slow the pace of the project," the report said. "It concluded that more study needed to be conducted before a full-scale integration plan was implemented and that more data should be gathered and evaluated to better understand the downstream effects of potentially many more criminal detentions and prosecutions," the report said. Treasury officials gave warning more than 30 years ago that the creation of a single European currency would eventually spell the end of Britain's economic sovereignty.

MAGIC LANTERN

An FBI spokesman confirmed on Wednesday that the U.S. government is working on a controversial Internet spying technology, code-named "Magic Lantern."

"It is a workbench project" that has not yet been deployed, said FBI spokesman Paul Bresson. "We can't discuss it because it's under development."

The FBI has already acknowledged that it uses software that records keystrokes typed into a computer to obtain passwords that can be used to read encrypted e-mail and other documents as part of criminal investigations. Magic Lantern reportedly would allow the agency to plant a Trojan horse keystroke logger on a target's PC by sending a computer virus over the Internet, rather than require physical access to the computer as is now the case.

When word of Magic Lantern leaked out in published reports in November, civil libertarians said the program could easily be abused by overzealous law enforcement agencies. When asked if Magic Lantern would require a court order for the FBI to use it, as existing keystroke logger technology does, Bresson gave a vague answer. "Like all technology projects or tools deployed by the FBI it would be used pursuant to the appropriate legal process."

The FBI set a precedent in a similar case by asking Internet service providers to install technology in their networks that allows officials to secretly read e-mails of criminal investigation targets. While the FBI requires a court order to install its technology, formerly called "Carnivore," some service providers reportedly comply voluntarily, while court orders are relatively easy to get, civil libertarians argue.

Given the hijacking attacks of Sept. 11, it is also conceivable that the U.S. government would enlist the aid of private companies to combat terrorism and help its war effort, said Michael Erbschloe, vice president of research at Computer Economics, which analyzes the impact of viruses. "In previous wars, including World War II, the government had the power to call on companies to help; to commandeer the technology," said Erbschloe, author of "Information Warfare: How to Survive Cyber Attacks."

The Home Secretary went before the Commons on Thursday night to announce that he had decided to remove the section on religious hatred from the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Bill after the Lords rejected it. Blunkett blamed "duplicitous and hypocritical" Tories and Liberal Democrats for the U-turn. "The reason religious incitement was dropped was because the whole of the anti-terrorism Bill would have fallen because of the refusal of the House of Lords to accept the view of the Commons," he said in a statement. "This Parliamentary session was the opportunity to pass this into law, with other measures delayed and dropped because of the need to get anti-terrorist legislation passed." The Conservatives said the proceedings of the bill, which received royal assent yesterday, were an example of how they would conduct themselves in Opposition under Iain Duncan Smith's leadership. Pointing to six changes and concessions obtained from the Government, Oliver Letwin, the Shadow Home Secretary, said: "We identified and drew attention to a number of serious problems with the bill at the start, and led a cross-party coalition to force the government to improve it. We backed the need for emergency legislation throughout, and voted for the bill during its second reading, but we were deeply concerned about those aspects of the bill which bore little or no relation to the terrorist crisis and which undermined fundamental civil liberties. DUBLANE GUN LAW IS A FAILURE

Pistol shooters can recall precisely where they were and what they were doing when the first news bulletins came through of the Dunblane massacre on March 13, 1996.

They went through phases of shock, horror, bewielderment and then rage. They were outraged that a man with a gun licence -- one of their own -- could have murdered 16 children and their teacher.

The national mood shifted away from the killer to competitive shooters. They became the target of tabloid attacks on Britain's "gun culture." Even when it became clear that Thomas Hamilton had acquired his guns because of imperfect enforcement of gun laws, rather than inadequate legislation, the assault on legal gun ownership was redoubled. In the final months of the Major administration and with an election looming, ministers buckled in the face of demands that "something must be done." [Ed. note: The demands came from the New World Odor Gang directly and also through orchestrated public opinion.]

Hamilton, a maniac with paedophile tendencies who lied to the police to get his gun certificate, was hung around the neck of Britain's 54,000 pistol owners, and historic rights to gun ownership were ripped up. "When Dunblane happened, you just could not argue the case," says Michael Gault, a maintenance engineer with the RAF who is also one of Britain's finest shooters. For British shooters, the final insult has been the Home Office's refusal to relax the blanket handgun ban that would enable Mr. Gault and others to train in the months leading up to the summer championship. Should Mr Gault or any other British shooter triumph at the Games this summer, the chances are they will be ignored by the media, which tends to portray competitive shooters as "gun nuts." This slur is grossly unfair, as competitive shooters are scrupulous about safety and intolerant of people who misuse guns in any way.

After the horrors of Dunblane, many people might accept the argument for a ban on handguns if it appeared to work, but the evidence suggests strongly that it does not. Colin Greenwood, a retired police officer and leading expert on firearms law, has argued persuasively that gun control legislation has been an abject failure. As Mr. Greenwood notes, in the past 20 years, the number of robbery cases involving shotguns has remained roughly constant, but the use of pistols has increased fivefold, from around 500 to 2,561. [Ed. note: I seriously doubt that any gun law in any country with a moderate amount of crime has reduced crime or gun deaths. If just one law has the NWO Gang would ram it down the throats of the unwashed masses of the world on a daily basis.]

As the police in any British city acknowledge, handguns have never been cheaper or easier to obtain on the streets, and the flow of illegal guns has increased most rapidly since the ban was introduced. Successive governments have moved to restrict gun ownership by law-abiding people while failing to restrict the flow of illegally-held weapons. Until the 1960s, ownership of shotguns was entirely unregulated. Now, farmers and sportsmen must often wait for months for shotgun certificates from police authorities that seem philosophically opposed to gun ownership.

Though it is undeclared, official policy is clearly for back-door banning of weapons, and it is always easier to punish the law-abiding than curtail the activities of criminals on the streets. As Mr. Greenwood argues, if Britain's strict gun laws are designed to protect the public, a simple glance at gun crime proves they are a "complete failure." [Ed. note: BINGO! From a cluttered warehouse on Third Street in San Francisco, Rudy Rucker Jr. runs Monkeybrains.net, a tiny dial-up Internet service provider and Web-hosting service - and on Nov. 25 his servers were moving at a seriously sluggish pace. "My first thought was, 'This sucks, my mail's not going fast enough,' " Rucker Jr. tells me.

Some quick detective work revealed that a worm called Badtrans was transmitting data stolen from more than 100,000 computers to an address at IJustGotFired.com, a Web site Rucker Jr. hosts. The Badtrans traffic - 100 e-mails a minute - was the source of the slowdown. He promptly disabled the account.

Hacker attacks are old news. What's fascinating about Rucker Jr.'s run-in with Badtrans is that it offers a glimpse at the kind of personal information the Federal Bureau of Investigation has publicly acknowledged it intends to collect. And it has thrust Rucker Jr., the son of acclaimed sci-fi author Rudy Rucker, into a cyber-standoff with the FBI.

Badtrans seems to be similar to an FBI project dubbed Magic Lantern, a new "spy virus" first revealed in news reports by MSNBC on Nov. 20 (see "Wartime Profiteers of the Digital Age," page 22). Magic Lantern, reportedly, can record every keystroke a suspect makes and then transmit the information - e-mail messages, passwords, what Web sites the suspect has visited, etc. - back to the bureau.

The Badtrans worm is "almost exactly like Magic Lantern," security consultant and software designer Jesse Burns says. Like Magic Lantern, Badtrans logs keystrokes and funnels the data back to the worm's creator. In this case the info was routed to 22 e-mail addresses, mostly free Yahoo! and Excite accounts. Experts at tech security firm Symantec labeled Badtrans a worst-case hacker attack - a level-four threat - and quickly posted an antidote to the virus.

The massive flow of Badtrans bytes to Rucker Jr.'s servers caught the eye of the FBI's computer crimes unit, and on Dec. 3 an agent gave him a ring. "I helped them with some information," Rucker Jr. says. "I gave them information I thought might be pertinent to catching the people who were victimizing my server."

But the bureau wanted something else. "They asked me if I could store the data [harvested by the worm] for them and burn it on a CD-ROM," he says. Rucker Jr. balked. "The data I have is juicy. It's good for Big Brother surveillance, but it's not going to help them solve their case." So he stalled, telling the agents to mail a written request for the material.

Rucker Jr. shows me e-mail correspondence with David Freyman of the FBI's National Infrastructure Protection Center in Newark, N.J., that seems to back up his story. "Thanks for the update on the saving [of] the information," a Dec. 12 message from Freyman reads. Contacted by the Bay Guardian, Freyman declined to comment on the probe.

Rucker Jr. says he won't give up the info, now up to 303,000 messages, or two gigabytes, without a court order. "If a judge tells me to release it, I'll hand it over. I'm not going to jail over this."

Seth Schoen is a staff technologist at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital civil liberties group that often butts heads with the federal government. Schoen figures the FBI may have valid reasons for requesting the data Rucker Jr. is holding. "Presumably it will help their investigation - if they want to know who is being victimized and what kind of information is being collected," Schoen says.

However, Schoen is skeptical of the FBI's Magic Lantern scheme. He says the bureau may find it difficult to target specific - suspect - computers. "It's very tricky to collect information on one individual," Schoen tells me.

On a computer monitor in his bedroom-office, Rucker Jr. gives me a look at some of the stuff gathered by Badtrans - and, at least theoretically, by Magic Lantern. I check out some e-mail missives, searching on the word "anarchy." Sixty-six messages pop up. One is by a high school student who started an "anarchy club." Another is by a guy who thinks anarchy is a variant of satanism.

Next I scroll through a few hundred Web site urls. I can see who's been surfing for porn, who's been applying for loans (freddiemac.com, equityloansnow.com), who's been looking for jobs (fairfieldcountyjobs.com, museumjobs.com).

I can see why the feds would be enamored with this kind of technology: in terms of surveillance, this program makes phone-tapping look like a laughable anachronism. It also gives me the very creepy feeling of reading someone's diary. Scratch that - it's more like having access to the diaries of thousands of people. "My instinct says not to give this information to the FBI," Rucker Jr. muses. "Thinking that Big Brother is right all the time is bad for our country, it's bad for people's rights, it's bad for people who want to live in little hellholes like this running their own computer companies." 32 CHOSEN FOR RHODES LIST

Thirty-two American college students have been selected as Rhodes Scholars.

The winners were selected by eight regional committees from among 925 applicants who were endorsed by 319 colleges and universities throughout the nation. Rhodes Scholarships, created in 1902 by the will of British philanthropist Cecil Rhodes, provide two or three years of study at Oxford University in England. Winners are selected on the basis of high academic achievement, personal integrity, leadership potential and physical vigor, among other attributes. PROJECTS CHATTER, ARTICHOKE & MK-ULTRA

Newly published documents on one of the premier sources for information on the internet, reveal some of that valuable history involving Project Chatter and MKULTRA.

"Project Chatter" was a United States Navy project to test drug effects, namely Anabis Aphylla, on human and animal subjects. It was started in 1947 due to rumors of "Fantastic Results" by the Soviets in mind control. Their research on "Truth Drugs" was used for interrogation. "Project Chatter" was later renamed "Project Artichoke" with a new mission -- mind control.

Along with "Project Chatter" information, both from the Navy and the CIA archives, is a document regarding "Project MK-ULTRA." It is described in this document as being the "CIA's Program of Research in Behavioral Modification." This nearly two-hundred page document transcribes a hearing before the Select Committee on Intelligence, and the Subcommittee on Health and Scientific Research of the Committee on Human Resources.

The spook agencies have been working on mind control technology for about 50 years! They now have technology capable of total mind control of most people. NEW WORLD ODOR IS ON ITS WAY

What Japanese bombers could not do in 1941, politicians and businessmen are doing in 2001: destroying U.S. sovereignty and independence. Recently, a U.N. official said, "Within 10 years time you're going to see the beginning of an embryonic world order." The official's name is Edward Widmer, and he is president of the Illinois Division of the United Nations Association of the United States. He made his remarks at a gathering of the Bolingbrook Rotary Club just a few days ago. If you think Widmer is simply a wild canary out on a limb by himself, you are very mistaken.

Former newsman, Walter Cronkite, wrote in his book, "A Reporter's Life," "A system of world government is mandatory. The proud nations someday will see the light and yield up their precious sovereignty."

Cronkite also told BBC newsman, Tim Sebastian, "I think we are realizing that we are going to have to have an international rule of law." He added, "We need not only an executive to make international law, but we need the military forces to enforce that law."

Cronkite went on to say, "American people are going to begin to realize that perhaps they are going to have to yield some sovereignty to an international body to enforce world law."

England's Prime Minister, Tony Blair, is just as direct. In a speech given back in 1999 he said, "Globalization has transformed our economies and our working practices. But globalism is not just economic. It is also a political and security phenomenon."

Blair went on to say, "We are all internationalists now, whether we like it or not." He also said, "On the eve of a new Millennium we are now in a new world. We need new rules for international co-operation and new ways of organizing our international institutions." He further said, "Today the impulse towards interdependence is immeasurably greater. We are witnessing the beginnings of a new doctrine of international community."

Remember it was former president, George Bush, Sr., that spoke of Americans swearing loyalty to a "New World Order." His son, George, Jr., feels much the same way. Phyllis Schlafly recently reminded us that, back on April 22 of this year, G.W. signed the Declaration of Quebec City in which he gave a "commitment to hemispheric integration and national and collective responsibility for improving the economic well-being and security of our people."

Obviously, "our people" means the people of the Western Hemisphere, not the people of the United States. Schlafly continued to say, "Bush pledged that the United States will 'build a hemispheric family on the basis of a more just and democratic international order.'" If Congress grants President Bush such unconstitutional Fast Track trade authority (which it has), he will no doubt do exactly what he said he would do: build an international order.

Call it what you want - "New World Order," "International Order," "International Community," "World Law." It all means the end of U.S. sovereignty and independence. Americans need to be aware that power hungry politicians from both parties along with money hungry executives from multinational corporations pose a much greater threat to our liberties than any foreign terrorist does. If our freedoms are destroyed, it likely will not be by heat-seeking missiles from above but by freezing cold hearts from within.

ZHIRINOVSKY GOES MAINSTREAM

Eight years ago, Vladimir Zhirinovsky stunned Russians and Americans when he emerged as a major force in Russian politics, campaigning for the reinstatement of the Russian empire and an end to Moscow's co-operation with the United States, but now he has gone mainstream.

When the "new" Zhirinovsky appeared before reporters Monday, the politics of provocation were gone, replaced by something far more conventional. He called for broad cooperation between the United States and Russia and said he could even envision the day when the two countries could merge into a "north Atlantic state." Zhirinovsky, a legislator back home, is here to attend a conference of parliamentarians. [Ed. note: The U.S. Corp. and it's subsidiary in Moscow will never openly unite. The "Evil Empire" was created by the New World Odor Gang via the U.S. Corp. and Ibriy Royal Family to be a "boogie man" to force the Western nations to accept their New World Nightmare. He said that Moscow and Washington should cooperate more in the fight against terrorism, with Russia using its influence to help pressure Palestinians, North Koreans and Iraqis toward moderation. Zhirinovsky counseled against use of American military force against Iraq. He said it would only rally the Iraqi people in support of President Saddam Hussein in much the same way that Russians closed ranks behind Stalin during World War II. He added that U.S.-Russian cooperation would be essential in the event that China decides to become a major military force. [Ed. note: Zhirie is right. The only way to eliminate Pres. Hussein is by zapping him with a laser cannon from space. The NWO Gang could claim he was hit by lightning and say it was the judgement of "God." Zhirinovsky recalled the time in 1994 when then-Vice President Al Gore called him an "extremist and an ultranationalist." Vlad made Americans and others nervous at the time by accusing Jews of starting both world wars, by threatening to drop 100 nuclear bombs on any country making territorial claims on Russia and by demanding the return of Alaska, Finland, Poland and other former parts of czarist Russia. GUANTANAMO BAY

Some dates in the history of Guantanamo Bay, where the United States maintains a Naval Station, the oldest U.S. overseas military post.

April 30, 1494: Christopher Columbus stays overnight in Guantanamo Bay during his second voyage to the Americas. He calls the natural harbor "Puerto Grande."

1741: British troops occupy Guantanamo Bay for four months during their war against Spanish trade interests in the colonies.

June 10, 1898: A battalion of Marines camps at Guantanamo Bay, the first U.S. troops to land in Cuba in the Spanish-American war. Spanish guerrillas -- signaling to each other with dove-like coos -- close in on the outpost a day later and kill two marines, the first U.S. casualties in the war.

Feb. 23, 1903: President Theodore Roosevelt signs an agreement with Cuba, leasing Guantanamo Bay for 2,000 gold coins a year, now valued at $4,085. Washington continues to pay the lease every year, but Castro's government refuses to cash the checks.

1906: Opposition forces stage a revolution in Cuba; U.S. steps in and declares a provisional government, the first of several such interventions. Troops in Guantanamo patrol U.S.-owned plantations to protect them from insurgents.

1916-1917: Disputed elections launch another civil war in Cuba. Cuban government gunboats seek refuge in Guantanamo Bay after revolutionaries take nearby Santiago. U.S. authorities once again intervene and restore order.

1933: U.S. forces based in Guantanamo protect U.S. interests during another period of turmoil and revolution.

1934: Under a renegotiated lease, the United States and Cuba agree that the land would revert to Cuban control only if abandoned or by mutual consent.

1939: Anticipating U.S. participation in World War II, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt visits Guantanamo Bay and orders major expansions that will allow it to operate as a port for air and sea patrols.

June 27, 1958: Rebel forces led by Fidel Castro's brother, Raul, kidnap 29 sailors and Marines returning from leave inside Cuba. They are released on July 18.

Jan. 1, 1959: With revolutionary forces led by Fidel Castro making advances, U.S. bans its servicemen from entering Cuban territory.

Jan. 4, 1961: The formal break between the United States and Cuba takes effect. President Eisenhower declares that this "has no effect on the status of our Naval Station at Guantanamo."

April 17, 1961: Abortive U.S.-backed Bay of Pigs invasion ends in a fiasco for anti-Castro forces. Guantanamo is on high alert, although far from the action.

Fall 1961: Castro plants a "cactus curtain" around the U.S. base to frustrate attempts by Cubans to seek refuge there.

Oct. 21-22, 1962: Dependents and other civilians are evacuated during Cuban Missile Crisis, when the Kennedy administration blockaded Cuba to force the withdrawal of Soviet nuclear missiles. Reinforcements arrive to man the base's front lines. Civilians return on Dec. 7.

Feb. 6, 1964: Castro cuts water to the base in retaliation for fines imposed on Cuban fisherman fishing in Florida waters. In response, the United States severs the pipes to the base, imports water, orders rationing, and builds a desalination plant.

October 1979: Carter administration stages major Marine reinforcement exercise at Guantanamo, a show of force to counter the recently established presence of a Soviet brigade in Cuba.

November 1991: Pentagon starts building housing for flood of refugees arriving in Guantanamo from Haiti. Hundreds are refused onward passage to the United States because they are HIV-infected. Bleak conditions in Guantanamo inspire several uprisings through the 1990s.

August 1994: Riots in Havana prompt Castro to declare that he will not block attempts by Cubans to leave by sea, and thousands of Cuban refugees join the Haitians already living in Guantanamo. The United States evacuates civilians on the base to make room for the refugees.

January 1996: The United States closes the tent cities, resettling most of the Cubans on U.S. soil.

April 1999: The Clinton administration considers, then abandons, plans to house thousands of Kosovo refugees in Guantanamo.

CIA BUGS CAT TO EAVESDROP ON THE SOVIETS

The CIA tried to uncover the Kremlin's deepest secrets during the 1960s by turning cats into walking bugging devices, recently declassified documents show.

In one experiment during the Cold War a cat, dubbed Acoustic Kitty, was wired up for use as an eavesdropping platform. It was hoped that the animal -- which was surgically altered to accommodate transmitting and control devices -- could listen to secret conversations from window sills, park benches or dustbins. Victor Marchetti, a former CIA officer, said that Project Acoustic Kitty was a gruesome creation. "They slit the cat open, put batteries in him, wired him up," he said. "The tail was used as an antenna. They made a monstrosity. They tested him and tested him. They found he would walk off the job when he got hungry, so they put another wire in to override that." [Ed. note: The monsters at the CIA should be split open, have a transmitter stuck in their stomach and have a gizmo implanted that keeps them doing whatever I decide they should do such as cleaning toilets.]

Mr. Marchetti said that the first live trial was an expensive disaster. The technology is thought to have cost more than £10 million. "They took it out to a park and put him out of the van, and a taxi comes and runs him over. There they were, sitting in the van with all those dials, and the cat was dead." [Ed. note: MORONS!!! The document, which was one of 40 to be delassified from the CIA's closely guarded Science and Technology Directorate -- where spying techniques are refined -- is still partly censored. This implies that the CIA was embarrassed about disclosing all the details of Acoustic Kitty, which took five years to design. [Ed. note: They should be embarrassed enough to go into hiding for the rest of their lives.]

Dr. Richelson, who is the a senior fellow at the National Security Archive in Washington, said of the document: "I'm not sure for how long after the operation the cat would have survived even if it hadn't been run over." [Ed. note: Even if the cat had lived and worked until the age of 20 it would have gotten so little information the CIA spooks could have paid a few hundred dollars to get the same information. They should have just paid some Soviet bureaurats for top secret info. What IDIOTS!!!]

The memo ends by congratulating the team who worked on the Acoustic Kitty project for its hard work. "The work done on this problem over the years reflects great credit on the personnel who guided it . . . whose energy and imagination could be models for scientific pioneers." TWO DOWN, TWO TO GO

George Harrison died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at a friend's home in Los Angeles after a battle with cancer.

Gavin De Becker was with George as were George's wife, Olivia, and his son Dhani, 24. "He left this world as he lived in it, conscious of God, fearless of death, and at peace, surrounded by family and friends," the family said in a statement.

Two Beatles survive George -- Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. John Lennon was shot to death by a deranged fan in 1980. [Ed. note: Pete Best, a former Beatle, is still alive and there may be one or more former Bed Bugs or Quarrymen. John Lennon was shot by the CIA and Mark David Chapman was fingered for the crime. Chapman may have been shooting live rounds, but a CIA contract assassin shot Lennon. The CIA used the same routine to try to do R. Wilson Reagan in. John Hinkley shot at Reagan, but one or more CIA contract assassins did the job. George "Poppy" Bush order the hit on Reagan and he may have ordered the hit on Lennon too. Hinkley was the son of a close personal friend of "Poopy" who lived next door to him. Bingo! Hinckley was clearly an MK-Ultra guinea pig.]

John was the cleverest, Paul the cutest, Ringo the most lovable and George the quiet one. The revolutionaries loved John, the girls loved Paul and the children loved Ringo. [Ed. note: Before Mr. Best got the axe he was the cutest and most lovable.  The Bed Bugs were known as Pete Best and the Beatles.  Paulie and Johnnie booted Mr. Best out because of their childish jealousy.]

Many radio stations played music by the Beatles and by Harrison while fans [fanatics] grieved. They gathered at Strawberry Fields in New York City, Abbey Road in London and left bouquets and tributes at the gate of Harrison's 19th century Gothic mansion in Henley-on-Thames in England.

George, who taught John how to play the guitar, quickly grew eary of the mania that surrounded the Beatles. Harrison was born February 25, 1943, in Liverpool, one of four children of Harold and Louise Harrison. His father was a former ship's steward and a bus conductor. At 13, Harrison bought his first guitar and befriended Paul McCartney at school. McCartney introduced him to Lennon, who had founded a band called the Quarry Men - Harrison was allowed to play if one of the regulars didn't show up. "When I joined, he didn't really know how to play the guitar; he had a little guitar with three strings on it that looked like a banjo," Harrison recalled of Lennon during testimony in a 1998 court case against the owner of a bootleg Beatles' recording. "I put the six strings on and showed him all the chords -- it was actually me who got him playing the guitar. He didn't object to that, being taught by someone who was the baby of the group. John and I had a very good relationship from very early on."

Late in 1966, after the Beatles had ceased touring, Harrison went to India, where he studied the sitar with Ravi Shankar. In 1967, Harrison introduced the other Beatles to the teaching of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and all four took up transcendental meditation. Harrison was the only one who remained a follower. "He was the first musician I knew who developed a truly spiritual side, and he was generous with his time to both charity and to friends," said Mick Jagger, who joined the Beatles on one visit to the Maharishi but soon lost interest. [Ed. note: George almost certainly burning in Hell with Maharishi and Lennon. They denied YAHSHUA IMMANUEL YAHWEH of Nazareth the Mashiyach and even claimed to be more famous. Yogi was one of thousands of false messiahs through the ages.]

By the late '60s, Harrison was clearly worn out from being a Beatle and openly bickered with Paul, arguing with him on camera during the filming of "Let It Be." As the Beatles grew apart, Harrison collaborated with Clapton on the song "Badge," performed with Lennon's Plastic Ono Band and produced his most acclaimed solo work, the triple album "All Things Must Pass." The sheer length of that 1970 release confirmed the feelings of Harrison fans that he deserved better than his supporting role in the Beatles. One of those songs, the hit "My Sweet Lord," later drew Harrison into a lawsuit, which he lost, by the copyright owner of "He's So Fine."

George married Olivia Arias in 1978, a month after Dhani was born. The next year, he founded Handmade Films to produce "Life of Brian." He sold the company for $8.5 million in 1994.

Fame continued to haunt Harrison. In 1999, he was stabbed several times by a man who broke into his home. The man, who thought the Beatles were witches and believed himself on a divine mission to kill Harrison, was acquitted by reason of insanity. [Ed. note: That incident probably accelerated his cancer and killed him five to ten years earlier than had it not happened. Stress accelerates the growth of cancer and super-stress can cause it to run wild.]

"The thing that pleases me the most about it is that young people like it," Harrison said referring to Beatle music. "I think the popular music has gone truly weird. It's either cutesy-wutesy or it's hard, nasty stuff. It's good that this has life again with the youth." [Ed. note: He is right. Most noise today is sickening.]
