Dear Mark, I received your 28 Jan. 92 ( dated 91) circular a while ago but felt no need to respond immediately. You get involved with new general terms and interpretations and new reform schemes all the time and you want all others to respond with equal enthusiasm to them. In the meantime x old disagreements with your correspondents remain unsettled and any repsonse to your latest epistles would only heap up the disagreements further. I was travelling myself for a whole year and gathered much more libertarian material and also monetary freedom material. Some of this I have published but much more remains to be done. An initial free banking bibliography came already to 125 pages. A complete one could easily be double this size. Would you expect from me personal comments on each of these schemes? My collection of such titles is still very incomplete and, nevertheless, I have not got around to reading, far less reviewing all of them. You did not bother to send me all of your newsletters.I did not send you all of mine. Among my aims is not the abolition of interest or the indiscriminate multiplication of the money supply. Nor do I assume that the shortage of "capital" is the root of all evil. Often nothing but a) turnover credits or clearing facilities and b) stable enough value standards & free choice among them and c) free market rated and optional private notes etc. are missing. Under such freedom conditions interest bearing capital would be readily supplied and could grow rapidly. Financial freedom would also release much of the capital of insurance companies, private and public, for productive and credit-insured investments and so would voluntary taxation and the expropriation of the bureaucracy. But such freedom options do not seem to interest you. You expect more from finding remaining loopholes and special gimmick schemes. My father was similarly involved for 50 years and it got him nowhere. Moreover, you seem to have developed an unlimited faith in all computerized schemes. For me they could not even supply a reliable travelling schedule for a trip half around the world and my 3 small systems have frequently let me down. Your explanations in this circular raise more questions than they answer and do not inspire me with any confidence or even interest in this new or old system which has now captured your imagination. I will simply list it among many others in my series, when I get around to it and there is nothing in it that would induce me to put it on top of a pile of boxes of free banking material, much of which I do appreciate much more. In other words, I cannot offer you more at this state than a memory hole - and one with a considerable time delay for first registration and still greater ones for a possible few responses to it. And if you yourself provided a collection n microfiche of all money crank schemes then I would like this even more. I would rather like to concentrate on monetary freedom proposals. If you want rapid publicity, criticism or approval from me, I cannot offer them. But seeing your faith in computers, by all means, register all your ideas and favourite notions on computer bulletin boards for immediate responses. You might also start a computerized register for inventions and schemes and utopias the patent office and most libertarians, natural scientists etc. are not interested in. Sometimes, some supposed cranks and crackpots have got hold of some truths first. However, beware of GIGO. As for myself, I believe that I have already heard of enough good and workable ideas in the monetary freedom sphere, so that I just concentrate on publicizing these. I do not believe that the very latest one is always the best, especially when I cannot help finding its premises and means to be largely wrong. I have not got around to put another monetary freedom "newsletter" out for the last 2 years but I added many monetary freedom titles to my LMP series and intend to add many more. Did you ever show any interest in any of the academic books and articles on free banking that have been published since 1974? If not, why not? 868, 1022, mini-LMP PIOT,
