From: "John Zube" To: "Ken Tennant" Subject: 030626 Ken Tennant , Thomas Greco's web designer... Date: Saturday, 21 June 2003 8:11 AM Dear Ken, Prof. Rittershausen's writings are mostly in German. I did not dare reproducing most of his post WW II books published in Germany. But in them he could not speak freely and extensively on monetary freedom. In two of these he dealt with central banks and general banking policy. Another major one is on Free Trade. His pre-war "Das Andere System" (The Other System, on the Free Banking proposals of the Four Law drafts, was, accidentally largely destroyed in a book burning of the Nazis, as most of the impressions were trucked from the printer to the publisher - just while the Nazis trucked many confiscated books to their book burning points. The driver did not dare to argue with the Nazis, fearing at least a beating. R.'s re-write of that book, before the 1948 German currency reform, was not published because it could not be printed before the currency reform occurred. So I only microfiched it, many years later. I do not possess the copyrights for his writings. He told me that he would have welcomed the translation of some of his writings into English, especially his economics encyclopaedia in the Fischer VErlag series. It had repeated and large impressions. He got much published in Germany, e.g. by the Knapp Verlag, but many of his writings are still unpublished. Among them the most valuable is probably his unfinished "Geldtheorie" (Theory of Money) He was one of the co-authors of the Four Law Drafts, which I microfilmed in German and English in Peace Plans 40. The only other of his writings, that I have in English and microfiched in PEACE PLANS 41 is his 51 pages work in Milhaud's Annals: Unemployment as a Problem of Turnover Credits and the Supply of Means of Payment. This was in a batch of Free Banking files that I sent to Mike Aldana and Tom Greco. Alas, my present system does not permit me to convert texts automatically into HTML. Presently I am not planning to scan in and translate more of R.'s writings. The still unpublished and untranslated writings of U. v. Beckerath have precedence for me. For them I have also copyrights. I am still contents-listing the last 2 of 6 batches of the correspondence between Henry Meulen & U. v. Beckerath and doing my last proof-reading at the same time. Rittershausen and Zander are often mentioned in that correspondence. When this correspondence set is finished, I will offer it to the heir of Zander, with an appeal to make available whatever of Zander's monetary freedom writings were so far inaccessible. Thomas supplied me with his address. I also intend to digitize whatever I have of the correspondence between Beckerath and Rittershausen. But that will require much time and effort, too. Consider including at least extracts of the correspondence between Beckerath and Meulen. I could send you my final version when it is finally finished, together with my contents listing, in Word or RTF and, later, when I have a new system, in the automatically produced HTML version. I do intend to get a more powerful system soon. How soon? I do not know. First I have finally to get this Beckerath/Meulen correspondence finished as far as I can or intend to. You might also consider an updated version of my monetary freedom bibliography. But I will not be able to provide a comprehensive update myself, soon. I think that URLs should be offered for all the monetary freedom writings presently already offered on the Internet, even though many to most of them do not go as much into the technical and theoretical details as the writings of U. v. Beckerath do. A directory of e-mail addresses of all such advocates is also sorely needed, one that would indicate their main positions by some kind of short-hand code. At least of those who are tolerant and still willing to learn more about the subject. No website like your planned one will be complete enough, in its survey, extracts and selections until all the relevant texts have been published, at least on microfiche, floppy disks and CD-ROMs, if not on websites. And this should also be done in all of the major languages. Ultimately almost all could probably be combined on a few CD-ROMs or perhaps a single DVD. For the time being one can only offer whatever one can offer: Some samples and extracts. Abstracts and reviews of all of them should be invited. I can only hope that the planned website will have space for many more entries later, appealed for in its first appearance or linked to it. Thomas Greco seems to have combined some FB texts on a CD-ROM. I would like to get this disk or at least a contents list of it. (That infor was false. T.G. has not yet compiled such a disk, as he wrote to me recently. - J.Z., 25.12.03.) I still have to compile a contents lists of the FB files that I have collected. Alas, I do not even know how to get a print-out or separate digitized file of the listing which the file manager "Windows Explorer" provides for each disk. Perhaps the easiest would be to make a copy of all such files on a CD-ROM and snail mail that. Alas, so far I used only Adaptec Direct Disk format, in an old version and not e.g. Adaptec Easy Disk format or another CD-ROM format easily legible in most CD-ROM files. Always too busy to learn more about it. Instead, I collected some burner programs but have not yet tested any of them. (I now have Roxio Easy CD - Creator 6 & a relatively late NERO version. Alas, my first burning attempt could be read on my systems, a Windows 9 SE and a Windows XP Home E., but not on the very first modern other desktop that I tried, one of my granddaughter A. NERO & other CD burning programs remain to be tried by me. - J.Z., 25.12.03.) John, I am working with Tom Greco and Mike Aldana on getting his Reinventing Money.com up and going. We are almost done. What I am in need of is a few documents in HTML on Rittershausen. Would you please send me three or four documents of the best work done by this individual preferably in an HTML format if you have anything. Word format would also be fine is that is all you have at the moment. Kenneth D. Tennant Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Programmer/Analyst (208) 239-4280 ( www.reinventingmoney.com first version, has just been put online! - J.Z., 25.12.03.)
