I have digitized and loaded the Dr Popp book MONEY, BONA FIDE or
NON-BONA FIDE to my ISP ftp site. This word document is about 700 Kb
as is and has 15 gif files and a jpeg image of the outside covers. The
original book was 125 pages. As a word document it is 61 pages.

Around page 15 you will see the progression over several decades where
the United States dollar was devolved from a bona fide warehouse receipt
written against gold deposits into a fiat currency.

The numbers he gives for house payments further along in the book are
instructive in showing the inflation since the decoupling of the dollar
from gold. The actual figures he used were applicable in the decade of
the 1950s and no longer applied at the copyright date of his book
(1970).

Chapter 13 tries to address what occasions actually justify interest
payments. Since Dr Popp believed that the only bona fide money was a
warehouse receipt or tax credit certificate, his interest arguments
actually have more validity to a Gesellian currency. Check out Gesell's
Robinson Crusoe story: <http://www.andrewlowd.com/thesis/Appendix2.htm>
and more on Gesell: <http://www.andrewlowd.com/thesis/Chapter3.htm>

But then, Dr Popp had probably not heard about Gesell or had rejected
those arguments.

I recommend the Star Downloader for anyone working with a phone modem
and getting files of this size or larger. Star Downloader breaks the
stream in four parts and reassembles to where-ever you designate in
your computer. It typically saves 25% to 50% in downloading time.

I advise anyone to keep this document on your own computer and/or to
place it on your own website. The cover jpeg could be eliminated to save
about 104 Kb in download.
