NEST Inc. Mission
NEST Inc, is an umbrella
organization which supports community-building and the development of
alternative futures. NEST attracts concerned, committed, and cooperating
people and provides a conducive environment which empowers its members to
act on social, environmental, and economic
initiatives.
Vision
NEST, a unique
non-profit organization and community resource, will become recognized for
encouraging and co-sponsoring creative, innovative, and responsive
alternatives for the benefit of our local and global communities. As a
real support structure for a diverse range of interests, NEST Inc, will
become an important contributor to the social and economic health of the
community.
To further its mission, NEST will:
* Nurture the
development of cooperative, life-enhancing approaches to problem-solving
with special emphasis on application to the local community.

Provide a vehicle by which emergent structures can interface with
conventional structures.
* Promote the emergence of a network of
cooperators for improvement of the quality of life in the community.
Functions/Processes/Scope
NEST Inc,
will support a central office operation sufficient to manage the
requirements and specific demands on the organization to coordinate its
diverse support activities. To the full extent of the powers invested in
the organization, NEST Inc, will utilize its primary resources of people,
skills, networks of interest groups, material assets, and the continually
changing information environment to form, incubate, support, and spin-off
projects of high value to its members and the larger community. NEST Inc,
will support and co-sponsor a diverse range of projects including
education, development of appropriate technology, micro enterprise,
community information networks and services, land and environmental
conservation, cultural events, social action intiatives, innovative
economic development projects which encourage community self reliance and
ownership of economic institutions, and other community-building
projects.
