CD-ROM on Free Banking and Panarchism
~
by John Zube
I have recently finished, as far as I wanted to and could for the time
being, my first CD-ROM on free banking and panarchism, leaving enlarged and
improved editions to the future - and, largely, to others. It contains about
237 Mbs, thus only fractionally fills one CD-ROM, leaving much space to be
filled, largely, by others.
For a short time I will continue to mail it free of charge to anyone
interested, sending me his snail mail address.
Later I will only distribute it at a small charge and hope that its main
distribution will come through others, who will add their additional
information and criticism of my collection of such files.
Apart from the duplicates already made and otherwise inscribed, my future
duplicates of this CD will carry something like the following label
inscription:
Copy & improve me! Add Stuff: Free Banking/Panarchism/Libertarianism/Anarchism!
Distribute for free or fee! Our future, our lives, may depend on
spreading such ideas.
This could be done on the road to complete libertarian publishing, library
and information services, using not only CD-ROMs but also the humble and
supposedly outdated floppy, which can carry up to 6 books zipped,
microfiche, audio and video-taped books and lectures, any cost-effective and
powerful medium for liberty, justice, peace, progress, life extension,
intelligence expansion and space research texts.
We do no longer have to ride the paper tigers or become dependent upon
website providers and short e-mail texts only.
We could also make ourselves independent from largely virus infected
communications.
We could come to provide whole special freedom libraries and reference works
for ourselves, up to 3000 books on a single CD, if we use the medium
cooperatively.
On my own I could not thus fill a single CD. Between us we could do it. We
could not only fill 1 but hundreds, until all such texts are thus
permanently and cheaply available - and also frequently updated.
In between we could use websites for updates.
Even more powerful media may soon be available sufficiently standardized,
like DVDs and blue light CDs. But we do not have to wait for them and,
presently, could fill them even less than we can fill CD-ROMs on our own as
individuals.
Those insisting on copyrights should compile their own CDs and sell them at
a higher price.
I do hope that all the not copyrighted ones will come to contain all the
essential freedom information. Then those who try to monopolize freedom
knowledge will come to remain sitting on it. Serves them right, I would say.
On microfiche only I offer many more texts on monetary freedom and
panarchism than I was so far able to digitize or get in digitized form.
Scanning and proof-reading many more such texts will keep me busy for many
months but a first output of such a CD was overdue, I believe. A practical
example speaks louder than a thousand or thousands of words. I hope this
pilot scheme will soon be outdone by better and more offers from others, and
that they will be prepared to freely copy from each other and offer their
output in combination, at least with like-minded people and at least in all
major languages.
A snowball can get an avalanche going. Many drops can form a flood. Let's
get a chain reaction going to spread libertarian information.
LIBERTARIAN MICROFICHE PUBLISHING & RESEARCH CENTRE FOR MONETARY & FINANCIAL
FREEDOM, PEACE PLANS, ON PANARCHY, MONETARY FREEDOM SERIES, SLOGANS FOR
LIBERTY, SUB-SERIES ON FREE TRADE, LAND REFORM & COOPERATIVE PRODUCTION,
RADICAL REPRIVATISATION OR EXPROPRIATION OF THE BUREAUCRATS AND POLITICIANS,
ALTERNATIVE HUMAN RIGHTS DRAFTS, DIRECTORIES, BIBLIOGRAPHIES, INDEXES,
ENCYCLOPAEDIAS, ETC.: 1779 issues so far, since 1964. All permanently and
cheaply in print on microfiche.
I may reach issue 2000 after I have finally digitized long postponed but
very important freedom writings and placed them at least on a CD-ROM, if not
also online.
Each only US $ 1 cash or 1 International Reply Coupon from the P.O., for
orders of at least ten. Otherwise the price is doubled. Or send a Postal
Money Order.
Small cheques are no good to me. They might cost me more than they are
worth. Larger cheques I could use e.g. for book orders from LFB and FEE.
They might even allow me to attend another ISIL conference. My first one
will be the one in NZ in July 04. Then I will also offer them on microfiche.
Until then further microfiche editions are postponed. One man can only do so
much.
Do not neglect your CD-ROM options, too, as much you have neglected your
microfiche and floppy disk options so far!

My e-mail introduction to the CD-edition turned out too long, like this
letter did. But, Alan Koontz turned it into PDF, with its remaining other
flaws, and placed it on http://flag.blackened.net/dinsdale/adobe/zubedoc.pdf.
