The Law of the Somalis

Spencer Heath MacCallum has just been confirmed to speak on the above subject at the ISIL World Freedom Summit!

Let us hear the story of a working stateless society -- one in which for the last 10+ years the EU, the US, the UN and the Italian government have been trying to force adoption of a government... Go to the conference to hear a different story from the propaganda distortions you have been submitted to in the mainstream media... Ha!

What Does Virginia Have to Offer for You?

A lot and plenty, I should say...

The only scarce commodity may be virgins (of either sex), but that I don't know. No, I don't. And I don't know, if it is, if it has anything to do with the Pentagon at Arlington, Virginia. To make good for this eventual lack (if it is one!), you have instead so much that I couldn't possibly list it here. And "Virginia is for Lovers," as the Virginia Tourist Corporation states. To learn more about the Virgin Queen, Virgineola, Virginny and all the rest of the striking history and the present so tempting offerings, maybe start reading here and here and also look here. The last link now draws your attention to something unique this year, the celebration of "America's 400th Anniversary," throughout the state. "There has never been a better time to plan a Virginia vacation." Discover the most intriguing story of America's history, the founding of Jamestown.

And while I'm at it, this site and "CB's notewok," like usual, have something special and even much better to draw your kind and selfish attention to:

ISIL's 26th WORLD FREEDOM SUMMIT

It has been a number of years since ISIL's world conference last took place in the United States. So, this is a unique occasion for Americans themselves, but also for those living closer to the US than to the locations of five of the six latest conferences. Only Mexico in 2002 was close. Plus for those many people around the world who like traveling to the United States and for those who never have done so, but have always planned. Like so many people in Germany, where I live.

While the ISIL conference takes place in the Jamestown area, at Williamsburg, and includes a tour of Colonial Williamsburg and an opening reception featuring a welcoming committee comprised of local Indians and a fascinating history of the region as told by "John Rolfe" (aka Dick Cheatham) of Pocahontas fame, plus an optional post conference tour to take in the sensational historic marvels of the Jamestown/Yorktown, Charlottesville and Richmond areas, it goes far beyond this commemorating.

For ISIL, it is not good enough to look at the past only, maybe for some a way to whitewash a partly disastrous present and for others to temporarily forget about a present difficult for their souls to bear. It is also not about the present mainly. It is about the future! Which we all need to consider and make efforts to improve. The ISIL conference this year is about nothing less than the

"Refounding of America."

You should be there, where history is not only commemorated, but made.

ISIL conferences, and this one in particular, offer something which few other conferences and conventions can match: the exceptional brilliance, prominence and cosmopolitan diversity of the speakers as well as of their audience. It is the place to meet friends in person you only have contact with by e-mail and to make new friends. Of the sort no escort service could ever provide. ;-) This is the first smiley I put in this post. The maybe required earlier ones, you will no doubt have put them yourself.

To conclude, the conference offers something for everyone: to the leftist the commemoration of the fact that in the Jamestown Church, the House of Burgesses, the first legislature of elected representatives in America, made the first law to set a minimum price (for the sale ot tobacco, of course, we are in Virginia!), this blending in fine (Virginia blend) with the same law also setting forth plans to create the first ironworks of the colony, thus industry by the state, not by the market. Karl Marx just has plagiarized... For the (neo-)conservatives we will have some sabres and cannons that they can admire and thus feel on their home turf (how home is Iraq?). The libertarians can become gluttons on a bag of sweets (and other gifts) much larger than the one they were once given on their first day of school. Here they are pictured looking into their schoolcones. I assume that such a custom exists in the United States, like in Germany. If not, the conference is offering a similar kind of cornucopia in a different format.

My weak attempt at being humorous should not prevent you from going to the conference! The date: August 11 - 15, 2007. It's becoming urgent to secure your registration. Students can get scholarships.

Bermuda's dirty little secret! Help these great people!!!

BERMYS AGAINST THE DRAFT

Larry Marshall Sr.
Larry Marshall Sr.

A History of Conscription In Bermuda

Conscription as it presently exists in our country has it’s origins in the 1965 Defence Act. This act was conceived and enacted by a government which did not have the best interests of its citizens at heart to put it mildly. It was in essence a reactionary mechanism put in place to insure the status quo was maintained. To appreciate this fact one need only to read Article 4 of the Bermuda Constitution which not only allows conscription of soldiers but policemen and prison wardens as well. Forced labour is also allowed under this article putting our country in the dubious position of actually endorsing and enforcing slavery.

So Draconian and oppressive are these laws that failure to comply brings a prison sentence of between three and six months. That is not the end however as those sentenced must then either begin or resume military training. Failure to do so means they will again be sentenced to prison. In other words a conscientious objector could technically do a life sentence. As a consequence over forty young men have been sentenced to prison since 2000 which is an astonishing rate seeing that only 150 are conscripted on a yearly basis. Most did not have legal representation and were on the lower end of the socio-economic scale. All were black which is but one of many contradictions of local conscription which is the next point.

Another and the most obvious is that it began 2 years after it was abolished in Britain in 1963. That this could happen is unconscionable seeing that our local regiment is modeled after the British Army. And to add insult to injury young conscripts here are forced to pledge allegiance to the Queen of England while in her very own country young men have the right to choose whether or not they wish to enter the military forces. For the record they pledge to give their lives for the Queen and her heirs if necessary.

The next obvious contradiction is observed when Bermuda is compared with other countries within the Commonwealth and regionally. Out of 75 countries in the Commonwealth only 3 continue to enforce this diabolical practice. Within the Caribbean we are also one of three, the other two being Cuba (known for its sterling record in human rights) and the Dominican Republic. Yet what really puts this contradiction in perspective is that we are the only English speaking country in the world that enforces conscription.

Continuing on this theme we come to the biggest contradiction which is the Bermuda Regiment masquerading as an institution of discipline. How young men, randomly selected, are then supposed to be moulded into model citizens by a group of filthy minded, filthy mouthed degenerates is beyond me. This group has very little credibility among those unfortunate enough to be under their command simply because their behaviour is anything but disciplined. My youngest son, along with 200 others, was shown a pornographic movie the first day of boot camp in 2003 to illustrate discipline. There were no ramifications whatsoever for the officer guilty of this despicable action. Yet this individual typifies the officers within the camp whose escapades both locally but especially abroad could make up a sequel to “Men Behaving Badly”.

From these contradictions let’s now observe the real impact this evil institution has had on generations of young Bermudian men. The abuses range from verbal and emotional abuse to physical abuse which includes incarceration served at times in their underwear. During ‘boot camp’, which lasts for two weeks, eighteen hour days are the norm with constant profane abuse being hurled at the conscripts. And this is then supposed to mould them into better citizens. At night they are not allowed out of their barracks which results in most urinating in plastic bags, soda cans and even out the windows. The British MP Andrew McKinlay has brought this to the attention of the House of Commons in London.

This abuse continues on a weekly basis as the young men are forced to participate in parade drills. This constitutes 95% of the Bermuda Regiment’s function. It is worth noting that American tourists have no idea when they watch regimental parades of just how many young men in them have suffered immensely. They have no idea that 90% of them have absolutely no desire to participate and feel extremely humiliated and embarrassed at having to perform under such circumstances. The psychological and emotional scars caused by this has adversely effected so many over the years. Some have even found the situation so unbearable that they snapped and ended up in our local mental institution. Yet despite the innumerable amount of abuses perpetuated by this system it continues graphically illustrating the maxim ”alls that necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing.”

That is until recently when the islands first anti-conscription coalition was formed. That took place in January 06 with the co-founders being Larry Marshall Jr., Audley Campbell Jr., and Larry Marshall Sr. No doubt many of you reading this article will ask why it took so long. Primarily because of the tremendous brainwashing of many locals who have been mesmerized by the propaganda machine of the Bermuda Regiment. Not only have they misled the public into believing conscription is necessary they have gone a step further and actually convinced them it is beneficial for the young men involved. This is classic Goebbels the master of propaganda who stated “Tell a lie big enough and often enough and it becomes the truth”.

Yet despite the aforementioned our group is very encouraged as the tide has definitely turned in our favour as many Bermudians, having been made aware of how inhumanely the young men are treated, are finally speaking out against this injustice.

Even so there are still many obstacles ahead but by the grace of God and with support from within and without our country the goal is indeed attainable. One of those obstacles, believe it or not, is local politicians who have become accustomed to supporting conscription as it is politically expedient. Therefore they are totally indifferent to the suffering of conscripts. Their hypocrisy is seen in the fact that not one has volunteered for the army neither their children. I guess when it comes to the army politicians are the same worldwide. Cowardly, self serving, and opportunistic.

Another obstacle is price as the costs of fighting through the courts is challenging especially for a group of working class people. Yet this was our only avenue as trying to prick the collective conscience of the powers that be would be an exercise in futility.

Therefore on December 06 we filed a writ in the local Supreme Court. The case should be heard within the next few months. If we lose the Court of Appeal is our next recourse. After that it would be the Privy Council in London. This might seem like negative thinking but due to reasons I am not presently at liberty to discuss the latter is probably our best chance for justice as the British are far more liberal when it comes to human rights.

Needless to say the legal process is extremely expensive and it is for this reason that we seek financial support in order to insure that we have the very best lawyers and can go the distance. If you do decide to contribute rest assured that your money is going to a worthy cause. Bermudians Against the Draft is a non-profit organization fighting to bring freedom to an entire country for the first time in 42 years. Help us to bring to an end this madness that has plagued our nation for too long.

In closing I would like to thank the editor of Draft Notices for allowing me the opportunity to expose Bermuda’s “dirty little secret”. I would also like to say that as a Bermudian I am both embarrassed and ashamed that our country endorses such a terroristic system. It is my dream that young men in our modern society will one day soon enjoy the freedom that their counterparts enjoy in your country.

On that note I warn you not to take that freedom for granted. It has been brought to my attention that the Democratic Congressman Mr. Charles Rangel has initiated moves to bring back the draft in America. That would be a most egregious mistake that will inevitably lead to human rights abuses on a scale not seen in decades. That being the case my advice to those involved in the anti-draft movement, not that you asked for it, would be to fight with everything you have in order to insure that this initiative is not successful. For rest assured that those drafted will most certainly come from two distinct groups: the poor and minorities. In other words those most vulnerable to such blatant violations of human rights. If you need an example of how corrupt and unfair conscription is just look to Bermuda.

Thank you,

Larry Marshall Sr.

Grass Roots Morality

As opposed to theirs... We have been taught that Heaven is somewhere up in the sky whereas Hell is somewhere down under the surface of the earth. The truth is that it always has been the reverse and is even more strikingly so today, in the 23rd year after 1984. The truth is: Heaven is actually down in the valley, where simple folks dwell and toil in their communities, while all the horrors of Hell are up "on the Hill." To illustrate this, look at the splendour of this pic:

Memorial Day and Other Distractions

“I think that he is a distraction in the Republican primary”: Michigan Republican Party chairman Saul Anuzis wants Ron Paul barred from future debates.

Look forward to what Jonathan David Morris has to say on this on this site next week at http://www.butterbach.net/jdm/jdm177.htm [link not yet working till next week][link now working]

PS: If you missed the GOP Presidential debate on FOX NEWS on May 15, here is the clip at YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8DVdGkGCpA
Even more of a sensation, enjoy a Ron Paul in still much better shape in this clip from CNN ("The Situation Room") talking on May 16 about that debate of the day before, with a not so perfidious anchorman:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sy4Eugc0Xls
As an extra, here you happen not to have to listen to those staged, paid or synthesizer produced button released applauses...and may also avoid to have to throw up when considering the biased dishonesty of the debate moderators or anchormen, those facilitators of the bad... ;-)
And now relax with a well deserved dessert, a premier cartoon by Scott Bieser, which jewel you can admire here:

http://www.ncc-1776.org/tletoon/paulVSrudy500x459.jpg
Instead of giving you the link to the home page of "The Libertarian Enterprise", where this cartoon appeared, which link would not be a permanent link to this cartoon (unless I waited till they have moved the page to their archives and attributed a new URL), I opted for the above link that is reasonably permanent. Four days ago, I coined (historians and herstorians*, please note!) the word permaquack for such permanent links or permalinks. To which JDM commented: "'Permaquack.' Ha. Sounds like a hair gel for water fowl." :-) But it surely would not be bad, if I kept it together with the new name I jokingly gave to this blog that same day: "CB's notequackquack"...

* how feminist and stupid can you get!!!

Please help also RRND and FND!

Thomas L. Knapp: "To contribute to RRND using PayPal or e-gold, see the sidebar of any page at http://www.rationalreview.com. If you prefer tax deductibility, support ISIL and “earmark” your contribution for the support of Freedom News Daily at: http://www.isil.org/store/membership.html#freedom-news-daily.

And if you’d like to physically ship us checks, money orders, wampum, bullion, Federal Reserve Notes, used bottles that can be returned for deposit refunds, or pieces of toast with images of the Virgin Mary on them that we can auction on eBay, just drop me a line for instructions on how to do that. (Seriously: We’re always looking for computer hardware — if you’ve got a reasonably recent desktop or laptop that you’re looking to unload, let me know).

End of sales pitch ... And now, this week's news ..."

I am hesitating between the used bottles (ha, Tom, with what do you think I am supporting myself these days!), the wampum (ah, good idea to replace that fiat money!) and the Virgin Mary... (I have not recently had a bout of devoutness like those listed here nor did I swallow my three miracle pills today, an unforgivable oversight...) ;-)

Help Antiwar.com!!!

http://www.antiwar.com/

L. Neil Smith: "Antiwar.com, guided by the clear eye and the steady hand of Justin Raimondo—one of the very few "dinosaurs" who's been working in the libertarian movement as long as I have—has maintained a passionate and principled struggle against the Boot On Your Neck party and its insane and violent flailings for as long as most people on the 'Net remember.

However, it's about to go under. That would not only be tragic, it would be unspeakably dangerous for each of us who desires the peace, freedom, progress, and prosperity that only a libertarian society can offer."

Eric, Justin, thank you!!!

Anti-Chipping Prayer Vigil this Saturday in West Palm Beach

"We know you will prove us right when we say that people everywhere will take a stand against inhumane and unethical plans to implant microchips into human beings."
Katherine Albrecht

If you can't join us for this event, you can still participate in spirit. Wherever you are on Saturday, please take a moment at 2:00 PM EST [Standard Time 6:00 PM UTC/GMT; German time: 8:00 PM] to say a prayer or take a moment of silence on behalf of the people targeted for chip implantation. We have already heard from people as far away as South Africa who will be setting their alarms for 6:00 AM to pray with us at that time. If you're not the praying type, please engage in a moment of silent reflection to send thoughts of protection and peace to Florida.

Thank you again for supporting us as we take this important stand to defend human dignity against the encroachment of chipping technologies.

For details: http://www.antichips.com/protest-may12.htm

Katherine Albrecht: "If you are in Florida, I encourage you to come out and join us. I have organized seven protests since I founded CASPIAN in 1999, and every one has been a completely positive experience. People bring their families, their golden retrievers, and their shared love of freedom, and they leave with the satisfaction that only comes from taking a stand for what's right. That's a lot in this increasingly apathetic world. And it feels great.

We now have over 10,000 CASPIAN members around the world and plan to work with local communities to organize similar events elsewhere if it should become necessary."
