JDM's latest!

Those numerous fans who have not been able to find Jonathan David Morris's latest weekly column yesterday (or even today) on his own site or on mine or anywhere else among the further syndicating sites, can enjoy it here now:This is an emergency measure to make the column available on the Internet till the time when some problems are hopefully solved which JDM encountered with accessing his site and forwarding the column through the usual channels and in the usual format. Spread the word to those unhappy with waiting who have to do all that yawning for lack of good reading.... ;-)

rOBERT aNTON wILSON 1932-2007

'Robert Anton Wilson taught us all that “the universe contains a maybe.” So maybe there is an afterlife, and maybe Bob’s consciousness is hovering around all of us who were touched by his words and his presence all these years. And if that’s the case, I’m sure he’d like to see you do something strange and irreverent — and yet beautiful –- in his honor.'

This quote is from an obituary by RU Sirius.

You may have noticed that I haven't posted to this blog since 23 December last year and generally haven't worked on my websites lately. I have as much the right to retire for a while or maybe forever into my private life as all those too many correspondents and collaborators who have practically abandoned me and retired to their no doubt much easier private life, expecting though that I stay public. Maybe.

Presently I am dating a homeless person living in the streets and I think that this fits me perfectly. It was anyway the only chance to somehow relive as profound a relationship as I had with my deceased mate, tomcat Raffi. Whether this is strange, irreverent and beautiful enough to honor Robert Anton Wilson, I do not know. Maybe.

But I cannot ignore the passing on of this great man, one of the very greatest, even if I am still two obituaries late (Richard Rieben since March last year, Gaston Scholer since the beginning of this year) and scared shitless to have to write more and more of those bitter necessities after a year already chock full of them. My sites were never meant to become specialized in this literary endeavour. I cannot ignore it because this man has for over twenty years at least meant so much to me, has liberated and consoled me, a writer and philosopher with more universal deep insights than most. I particularly liked his humour. If we could get rid of all those pompous people taking themselves too seriously and who are so sure of their "knowledge", the world would be a much better place. RAW has solidly worked into that good "agnostic" direction.

I had been very lucky to meet him twice in person, once in Hamburg (1, 2), once in Berlin. For more on him, especially should you not know him (shit happens!) or not yet be a fan, have a look at this overview. Since about seven years there is also a text, a masterpiece, by Robert Anton Wilson on my sites (it is in German). You'll find it here.

Libertarians cannot do without him!

My most sincere condolences to his three surviving children and all those who loved him and still do.
