More praise and sorrow

Howdy, Chris,

Thanks for your simple and touching appreciation of Heath Ledger upon his demise. I'd be embarrassed to try to say anything about it myself because I associate Mr. Ledger with the character Ennis Del Mar and the circumstances of "Brokeback Mountain" which have a lot of incidental parallels to my own life.

If I tried to say anything about Mr. Ledger, I'd wind up talking about my early adolescence spent in Texas, not far from Childress, Texas, and during exactly the same years in which the story opens.

But praise and sorrow for Mr. Ledger is due simply to his admirable commitment to his craft, his courage in accepting a role that would make him unpopular to many, and his painful portrayal of a man who was taught to fear his own feelings.

Heath and his touching portrayal of Ennis belong to the ages now. I feel a sad but amusing desire to hear what Ennis' lover, Jake Gyllenhaal/Jack Twist has to say on this sad death.

Thanks!
Beau
