~ English ~ ~ Français ~ ~ Deutsch~ ~ Italiano ~ ~ English ~ Introducing the artist from New Zealand~ Oronzo Renna was born in Italy, near Lecce, an ancient Greek and Roman city in Apulia, noted for its baroque architecture, in 1950. He came into contact with music very early in his life. And he does indeed consider himself also a musician, playing the guitar, the mandolin, the BluesHarp, the lute, and since a year also the piano. I wish you would be as lucky as I was a couple of times, listening to him and forgetting the world. He was also singing then. He had founded his first band at the age of 16. Already then he met local artists, had regular contact with them, and they stimulated his artistic interests. Shortly after, he committed himself to the movement of 1968. A technical training followed. After that: military service, a period with never ending harassment (his political activities were probably known to "them" from case numbers). Since he became 25, he extensively travelled Europe, Morocco, India, Australia, New Zealand. And a cosmopolitan he no doubt is! A cosmopolitan ~FREE SPIRIT~ with two national passports nevertheless (Italy and New Zealand). About his further background, artistic and political, I would like to mention his intensive studies of the works of Rimbaud, Baudelaire, the Symbolists in general, J. L. Borges, E. M. Cioran, Brancusi, and, parallel to that, of most anarchist authors, from Malatesta to Stirner. Above all, his encounter, 25 years ago, with the anthroposophy of Rudolf Steiner represented a turning point in his life. Steiner's maxim "An Gottes Stelle den freien Menschen" was a significant statement to him. And Steiner's "Philosophie der Freiheit" for him a kind of bible of anarchism. Oronzo Renna does not aim at freedom, that would not be enough, but, as Rimbaud put it, at FREE FREEDOM! And: "Freedom is the supreme good only for those animated by the will to HERESY", as E. M. Cioran, his favourite and mine, wrote down. May I reveal that in his first-class library he has the rare works of this rare author in French, German and Italian! Oronzo Renna is an autodidact, a self-educated person, someone who is finding his way through his talent alone and not with the help of some art academy he visited or other formal education. The same will be true of the artist I have planned to present next in this new section. And I think, somewhat specializing that way, though in a non-exclusive fashion, will very well fit into my freedom pages and benefit them. With Oronzo Renna we have a very individual individualist anarchist, with his very own brand of anarchism. And as you know, this site is publishing to the wide Internet "By Appointment to His Majesty the Individual"... :-) Together with other artists, Oronzo Renna just had his first art gallery exhibition, which took place last month, December 1 to December 16, 2002, at the Depot Art Space, Devonport, Auckland. The exhibition was well received both by the public and the critics and the local paper had carried two articles ahead of the exhibition. A picture of the opening day can be found inside the Art section. To better understand, appreciate and enjoy the sculptures you should know that the search for the material used, for the suitable object ("objet trouvé") is already an essential part of the creative act. A peculiarity of found objects lies in their combinative quality, allowing Oronzo Renna to combine the pieces and arrange them in a different context, so that the creation of a new and aesthetic art work can happen. The free combination awakens in Oronzo Renna the consciousness of his original nature, relieves him from constraints and allows him to discover his inner artistic potential, i.e. limitless creativity. I forgot one thing: Oronzo Renna, being an artist through and through, is also a great cook (classic Italian cooking). If I could, I would hire him right away as my chef. (And as my interior decorator also; there is no end to his artistry.) I apologize therefore to my guests at this online exhibition for the fact that there is no buffet. The booty and beauty is here. ~ Français ~ Présentation de l'artiste Néo-Zélandais~ Oronzo Renna est né en Italie, près de Lecce, une ancienne cité grecque et romaine dans les Pouilles, célèbre pour son architecture baroque, en 1950. Il entra en contact avec la musique très tôt dans sa vie. Et, en effet, il se considère aussi comme un musicien, jouant de la guitare, de la mandoline, du BluesHarp, du luth, et depuis une année aussi du piano. Je vous souhaite d'avoir autant de chance que moi, qui à plusieurs reprises a pu s'évader du monde en l'écoutant. Il chanta par la même occasion. Il avait fondé son premier groupe à l'âge de 16 ans. C'est déjà à cette époque qu'il rencontra des artistes de la place, les fréquenta régulièrement, et ils stimulèrent son intérêt pour les arts. Peu après, il s'engagea dans le mouvement de 1968. Une formation technique suivit. Ensuite: service militaire, une tranche de sa vie avec des tracasseries à n'en pas finir (ses activités politiques "leur" étaient probablement connues de quelques numéros de dossier). Depuis l'âge de 25 ans, il parcourut l'Europe, le Maroc, les Indes, l'Australie, la Nouvelle-Zélande. Et il est un cosmopolite sans aucun doute! Un ~ESPRIT LIBRE~ cosmopolite avec deux passeports nationaux quand même (Italie et Nouvelle-Zélande). Quant à son autre acquis, artistique ou politique, j'aimerais mentionner ses études serrées de l'oeuvre de Rimbaud, Baudelaire, les symbolistes en général, J. L. Borges, E. M. Cioran, Brancusi, et, parallèlement à cela, de la plupart des auteurs anarchistes, de Malatesta à Stirner. Surtout sa rencontre, il y a 25 ans, avec l'anthroposophie de Rudolf Steiner représenta pour lui un tournant dans sa vie. La maxime de Steiner "A la place de Dieu l'homme libre" fut une déclaration significative pour lui. Et la "Philosophie de la Liberté" de Steiner pour lui une sorte de bible de l'anarchisme. Oronzo Renna ne vise pas la liberté, ce ne serait pas suffisant, mais, selon la formule de Rimbaud, la LIBERTÉ LIBRE!. Et: "La liberté est le bien suprême seulement pour ceux animés par la volonté d'HÉRÉSIE", comme nota E. M. Cioran, son favori et le mien. Puis-je révéler que dans sa bibliothèque de première qualité il a les oeuvres rares de cet auteur rare en français, allemand et italien! Oronzo Renna est autodidacte, une personne qui s'est éduquée elle-même, quelqu'un qui trouve son chemin par son talent uniquement, et non pas avec l'aide de quelqu'académie des beaux-arts qu'il aurait fréquentée ou d'une autre formation explicite en due forme. Il en sera de même en ce qui concerne l'artiste que j'ai prévue pour ma deuxième exposition en ligne. Et je pense que me spécialiser, mais sans exclusivité, quelque peu dans cette direction, s'accordera bien avec mes pages libertaires et leur fera du bien. Avec Oronzo Renna, nous avons un anarchiste individualiste très individuel, avec sa propre marque d'anarchisme. Et comme vous le savez, ce site publie pour et sur le vaste internet en tant que "Fournisseur de la Cour de S. M. l'Individu"... :-) Ensemble avec d'autres artistes, Oronzo Renna vient juste d'avoir sa première exposition dans une galerie d'art, à savoir le mois dernier, du 1er au 16 décembre 2002, chez Depot Art Space, Devonport, Auckland. L'exposition a été bien accueillie tant par le public que par la critique et le journal local avait contenu deux articles avant l'exposition. Vous trouverez une photo du vernissage à l'intérieur de la rubrique des beaux-arts. Pour mieux comprendre, apprécier et goûter les sculptures vous ferez bien de savoir que la recherche du matériel utilisé, de l'objet qui convient ("objet trouvé") est déjà une part essentielle de l'acte créatif. Un trait distinctif des objets trouvés est leur qualité combinatrice, permettant à Oronzo Renna de combiner les pièces et de les disposer dans un contexte différent, de sorte qu'une oeuvre d'art nouvelle et esthétique peut voir le jour. La libre combinaison réveille en Oronzo Renna la conscience de sa nature originelle, le délivre de contraintes et lui permet de découvrir son potentiel artistique intérieur, c.-à.-d. une créativité illimitée. J'oublie une chose: Oronzo Renna étant un artiste de bout en bout, il est aussi un grand cordon bleu (cuisine italienne classique). Si je pouvais, je l'engagerais illico comme mon cuisinier. (Et comme mon décorateur aussi; son art ne connaît pas de frontières.) C'est pour cette raison que je prie les invités de cette exposition en ligne d'excuser l'absence du buffet. ~ Deutsch ~ Vorstellung des Künstlers aus Neuseeland~ Oronzo Renna wurde 1950 in Italien geboren, in der Nähe von Lecce, einer alten griechischen und römischen Stadt in Apulien, berühmt für ihre Barockarchitektur. Er kam sehr früh in seinem Leben in Kontakt zur Musik. Und, in der Tat, er betrachtet sich auch als Musiker, der Gitarre spielt, Mandoline, BluesHarp, Laute, und seit einem Jahr auch Klavier. Ich wünschte Sie hätten wie ich das Glück gehabt, ihm mehrmals zuzuhören und dabei die Welt zu vergessen. Er sang dabei auch. Seine erste Band hatte er im Alter von 16 Jahren gegründet. Schon damals begegnete er ortsansässigen Künstlern, traf sich regelmäßig mit ihnen, und diese stimulierten seine künstlerischen Interessen. Kurz darauf engagierte er sich in der 68er Bewegung. Es folgte eine technische Ausbildung. Dann: Militärdienst, ein Lebensabschnitt mit endlosen Schikanen (wahrscheinlich wußten "sie", aus Aktenzeichen, von seinen politischen Aktivitäten). Seit er 25 war, durchreiste er kreuz und quer Europa, Marokko, Indien, Australien, Neuseeland. Und ein Kosmopolit ist er in der Tat! Ein kosmopolitischer ~FREIER GEIST~ mit immerhin doch zwei nationalen Reisepässen (Italien und Neuseeland). Was seinen sonstigen künstlerischen und politischen Background betrifft, möchte ich seine intensiven Studien von Rimbaud, Baudelaire, den Symbolisten im allgemeinen, J. L. Borges, E. M. Cioran, Brancusi erwähnen, und, parallel dazu, der meisten anarchistischen Autoren, von Malatesta bis Stirner. Vor allem seine Begegnung, vor 25 Jahren, mit der Anthroposophie von Rudolf Steiner bedeutete für ihn eine Wende in seinem Leben. Steiner's Maxime "An Gottes Stelle den freien Menschen" war für ihn eine bedeutungsvolle Erklärung. Und Steiners "Philosophie der Freiheit" für ihn eine Art Bibel des Anarchismus. Oronzo Renna strebt nicht nach Freiheit, nein, das wäre zu wenig, sondern, wie Rimbaud es formulierte, nach FREIER FREIHEIT! Und: "Freiheit ist das höchste Gut nur für diejenigen, die den Willen zur HÄRESIE haben", wie E. M. Cioran, ein Lieblingsautor von ihm und mir, niederschrieb. Darf ich verraten, daß er in seiner hochkarätigen Privatbibliothek die raren Werke dieses raren Autors auf Französisch, Deutsch und Italienisch hat! Oronzo Renna ist Autodidakt, eine durch Selbstunterricht sich bildende Person, jemand der seinen Weg nur durch sein Talent findet, ohne die Hilfe einer Kunstakademie, die er besucht hätte oder einer sonstigen Schulausbildung. Dasselbe wird auf die für die zweite Online-Ausstellung in dieser Rubrik vorgesehene Künstlerin zutreffen. Und ich denke, mich ein wenig in dieser Richtung zu spezialisieren, zwar ohne Ausschließlichkeit, wird zu meinen Seiten der Freiheit passen und ihnen gut tun. Mit Oronzo Renna haben wir einen sehr individuellen Individualanarchisten, mit seiner ganz besonderen Sorte von Anarchismus. Und, wie Sie wissen, diese Website veröffentlicht fürs weite Internet als "Hoflieferant seiner Majestät des Individuums"... :-) Zusammen mit anderen Künstlern, hat Oronzo Renna gerade seine erste Ausstellung in einer Kunstgalerie hinter sich, die letzten Monat stattfand, vom 1. Bis 16. Dezember 2002, im Depot Art Space, Devonport, Auckland. Die Ausstellung wurde sowohl vom Publikum als auch von der Kritik gut aufgenommen und die lokale Zeitung hatte vor der Ausstellung zwei Artikel gebracht. Um die Skulpturen besser zu verstehen, zu würdigen und zu genießen, sollten Sie wissen, daß die Suche nach dem verwendeten Material, nach dem geigneten Gegenstand ("objet trouvé"), schon ein wesentlicher Teil des schöpferischen Aktes ist. Eine Besonderheit der gefundenen Objekte ist ihre kombinatorische Art, die es Oronzo Renna erlaubt, die Stücke zu kombinieren und in einem unterschiedlichen Kontext anzuordnen, so daß ein neues ästhetisches Kunstwerk entstehen kann. Die freie Kombination erweckt in Oronzo Renna das Bewußtsein seiner Urnatur, befreit ihn von Zwängen, und erlaubt es ihm sein inneres künstleriches Potential zu entdecken, d.h. unbegrenzte schöpferische Kraft. Ich vergaß eins: Da Oronzo Renna ein Künstler durch und durch ist, ist er auch ein glänzender Koch (klassische italienische Küche). Wenn ich könnte, würde ich ihn sofort als meinen Küchenchef einstellen. (Und als meinen Innenausstatter, denn seine künstlerischen Fähigkeiten sind grenzenlos.) Aus diesem Grunde bitte ich meine lieben Besucher, das Nichtvorhandensein eines Buffets auf dieser Online-Ausstellung gnädigst verzeihen zu wollen. Beute und Beauty sind hier. C.B.
~ Italiano ~ Presentazione dell'artista dalla Nuova Zelanda~ Oronzo Renna è nato in Italia nel 1950, vicino a Lecce, un’antica città Greco-romana nelle Puglie, nota per la sua architettura barocca. Egli è venuto in contatto con la musica molto presto nella sua vita. Di fatto, egli si considera anche un musicista, suonando la chitarra, il mandolino, il BluesHarp, il liuto, e da un anno anche il pianoforte. Desidero che siate fortunati come lo sono stato un paio di volte, potendo ascoltarlo e dimenticare il mondo. Egli cantava allora. Fondò la sua prima band all'età di 16 anni. Già allora venne in contatto con artisti locali, che lo stimolarono nei suoi interessi artistici. Poco dopo, prese parte al movimento del 1968. Un addestramento tecnico ha seguito. Dopo quello: Servizio militare, un periodo con tormento senza fine (le sue attività politiche erano probabilmente note). All'età di 25 anni, egli ha viaggiato attraverso l’Europa, Marocco, India, Australia, Nuova Zelanda. Non c'è dubbio: egli è un vero cosmopolita! Un cosmopolita ~SPIRITO LIBERO~ tuttavia, con due passaporti nazionali (Italia e Nuova Zelanda). Sul suo ulteriore sfondo, artistico e politico, vorrei citare che egli ha studiato intensivamente i lavori di Rimbaud, Baudelaire, dei simbolisti in generale, di J. L. Borges, E. M. Cioran, Brancusi, e, parallelamente a quello, la maggior parte degli autori anarchici, da Malatesta a Stirner. Soprattutto, il suo incontro, 25 anni fa, con l'antroposofia di Rudolf Steiner ha rappresentato un punto di svolta nella sua vita. La massima di Steiner "Al posto di Dio l'uomo libero" era una dichiarazione significativa per lui. E la "Filosofia della libertà" di Steiner diventò per lui una sorta di bibbia dell'anarchia. Oronzo Renna non mira alla libertà, che non sarebbe sufficiente, ma, secondo la formula di Rimbaud, alla LIBERTÀ LIBERA! E: "La libertà è il bene supremo solo per quelli animati dalla volontà di ERESIA." come E. M. Cioran, il suo favorito e anche il mio, ha notato. Posso rivelare che nella sua biblioteca di prima classe egli ha i lavori rari di questo autore inconsueto in francese, tedesco e italiano! Oronzo Renna è un autodidatta, una persona che si è istruita da se stessa, qualcuno che sta trovando il suo modo solo attraverso il suo talento e non con l'aiuto di qualche accademia d’arte o di altra educazione formale. Lo stesso sarà vero dell'artista che ho previsto di presentare dopo in questa nuova sezione. E io penso che specializzando abbastanza quel modo, sebbene in una forma non esclusiva, andrà a pennello con le mie pagine di libertà e io giovo a loro. Con Oronzo Renna abbiamo un anarchico individualista molto individuale, con il suo modo di essere anarchico. E come è noto a tutti, questo sito sta pubblicando al largo Internet in qualità di "Provveditore della R. Casa della Sua Maestà l'Individuo"... :-) Insieme a altri artisti, Oronzo Renna ha avuto di recente (il mese scorso, dal 1° dicembre al 16 dicembre 2002) la sua prima esposizione d’arte, al Depot Art Space, Devonport, Auckland. L'esposizione è stata accolta bene sia dal pubblico che dai critici e sul giornale sono stati pubblicati due articoli prima dell'esposizione. Un'immagine del giorno di apertura può essere trovata dentro la sezione di arte. Per meglio capire, apprezzare e gustare le sculture dovreste sapere che la ricerca del materiale utilizzato, dell'oggetto adatto ("objet trouvé") è già una parte essenziale dell'atto creativo. Una peculiarità di oggetti trovati risiede nella loro qualità di combinazione, permettendo a Oronzo Renna di combinare i pezzi e organizzarli in un contesto diverso, rendendo possibile la creazione estetica di un nuovo lavoro artistico. La libera combinazione riaccende in Oronzo Renna la coscienza della sua natura originale, lo libera da costringimenti e gli permette di scoprire il suo potenziale artistico interiore, cioè creatività illimitata. Ho dimenticato una cosa: Oronzo Renna, essendo un artista da cima a fondo, è anche un grande cuoco (cucina italiana classica). Se potessi, lo assumerei immediatamente come il mio capocuoco. (Ed anche come decoratore del mio domicilio privato; non c'è alcun confine alla sua abilità artistica.)
